    • Apparatus for winding a material web includes one of a spool and a reel. A carrier drum forms a winding nip with the spool or the reel. The material web is guided over the carrier drum. Primary arms guide the spool or the reel when the spool or the reel is in a primary winding phase. Pressing levers are arranged on the primary arms. The pressing levers are structured and arranged to press the spool or the reel onto the carrier drum. Secondary arms are structured and arranged to press the spool or the reel onto the carrier drum when the spool or the reel is in a secondary winding phase. The carrier drum is mounted axially between the primary arms.     • Method for winding a material web onto a reel in an apparatus that includes a rotatable feed roll, a carrying drum, a discharge roll and a pulper. Winding device for winding a material web onto a reel, said winding device including: a feed roll, a carrying drum, and a support belt which is adapted to guide the material web over the feed roll and the carrying drum. An external vacuum device is positioned adjacent a circumferential surface of the carrying drum which is not contacted by the support belt and the material web and a winding nip is formed between the carrying drum and the reel. A discharge roll is provided for guiding the support belt, and the discharge roll is located in the vicinity of a pulper, downstream from the carrying drum, relative to a web run direction. The discharge roll is also adapted to divert at least a portion of the material web to the pulper before feeding the material web to the reel. The carrying drum may include at least one of circumferential ridges and perforations, and the support belt is one of a perforated and an air permeable belt. Preferably, the carrying drum includes a perforated jacket.

    • A drying section of a paper machine includes a plurality of individual drying groups, wherein the drying cylinders of a drying group are served by 2 respective dryer wire or felt that passes over drying cylinders of the drying group and presses a web to be dried against the surface of the drying cylinders. The invention is adapted for either single tier or double tier drying groups. At least one press roll is disposed between and separates two of the drying groups. In one embodiment, the at least one press roll forms a nip with the adjacent drying cylinder, either upstream or downstream, to define a dewatering nip through which the web passes. A dewatering belt passes over the press roll in the nip. The wire for a respective drying group is guided away from the dewatering nip so that only the web and the dewatering belt pass through the press nip. In alternate embodiments, two press rolls may be disposed between the adjacent drying groups, and the two press rolls define a press nip between them. A respective dewatering belt passes over each of the press rolls. One of those press rolls may also be in contact with and define a press nip with the adjacent drying cylinder in the adjacent drying group. An open draw free path may be defined between one of the press rolls and the adjacent drying cylinder.

    • Twin-wire former for producing a fibrous material web from a fibrous suspension and process for separating upper and lower wires of the twin-wire former. The twin-wire former includes a twin-wire zone composed of a lower wire and an upper wire and a plurality of rolls including an inlet roll and an outlet roll. The upper wire is guidable over the plurality of rolls, the inlet roll guides the upper wire to the twin-wire zone, and the outlet roll guides the upper wire toward the inlet roll. A wedge-shaped inlet zone is formed between the upper wire and the lower wire and has an adjustable inlet wedge angle. An upper wire subassembly includes a drainage box adapted to receive suspension water that flows upwardly through the upper wire, and further includes a pivotable common support device, to which the drainage box and the inlet roll are mounted. A stroke device is coupled to the pivotable common support device to lift the pivotable common support device around a first horizontal axle. In this manner, the inlet wedge angle is varied during former operation. After a maximal inlet wedge angle is formed, continued lifting of the pivotable common support device by the stroke device causes the upper wire subassembly to lift up from the lower wire, thereby separating the upper wire from the lower wire. A second horizontal pivot axle associated with the upper wire subassembly and located in a region of the outlet roll is provided. The separating of the upper and lower wires occurs around the second horizontal pivot axle. The process includes lifting the common support device with the stroke device, such that the common support device is pivotably supported by the first horizontal axle and the inlet wedge angle is increased, and, upon maximally increasing the inlet wedge angle, further lifting the common support device with the stroke device, such that the common support device is pivotably supported by the second horizontal axle and is disengaged from the first horizontal axle. In this manner, the upper wire is lifted up from the lower wire.
