    • A method, a system, and an apparatus for efficiently presenting correction options. The present invention is capable of analyzing user voice commands and sorting multiple input requests based on user selection probability to determine whether a confirmation step should be presented and, if so, the manner in which the confirmation step should be presented. In particular, the method requests an information input from the user and then assigns a confidence level to the information input. If the confidence level is LOW, then the system performs an immediate confirmation step. If the confidence level assigned is MEDIUM or HIGH, then the information is placed into a data set that is confirmed in a batch confirmation step. The batch confirmation step presents the captured information to the user for confirmation. If any of the information is incorrect, then the method sorts the information in ascending order by confidence level and creates a menu of items that may be changed. The user then makes the change. Once all changes have been made, the batch confirmation is complete as well as the information collection process.

    • A directory assistance system in accordance with the inventive arrangements includes a general directory, having a first names list; at least one caller specific directory having a caller specific names list; a caller identification system, the caller identification system identifying a caller, the caller identity being processed to select a caller specific directory from among the at least one caller specific directories; and, a telephone interface for receiving directory queries from the caller. As such, the system can search the caller specific directory responsive to identifying the caller, associating the caller with the caller specific directory, and receiving a directory query. Notably, the directory assistance system can be a voice activated directory assistance system. A method for performing directory assistance is also disclosed.

    • A system for presenting database query results through an AUI can include a database manager for managing a database query operation on at least one database. The database query operation can produce database query result items. The system further can include a dialog manager for managing the presentation of the database query result items through the AUI concurrently with the database query operation. Notably, the AUI can include a text-to-speech processor for converting the database query result items into audible speech; and, a speech recognition engine for converting speech input into text recognizable by the dialog manager. The AUI further can include a barge-in facility. In one aspect of the invention, the system also can include a queue for storing database query result items from the database query operation; and, a queue manager for managing the insertion and removal of database query items to and from the queue.

    • Embodiments include a program for transferring of data from a source computer to a location on a target computer utilizing a drag-and-drop operation and a spring-loaded portal. I/O devices are monitored for mouse input that includes coordinates of a mouse pointer. Whether an end-user is utilizing the mouse pointer to perform the drag-and-drop operation is determined. The spring-loaded portal is expanded from a closed position to an open position. A screen snapshot image of the location on the target computer is retrieved and overlaid on the spring-loaded portal. The transferring of data from the source computer to the location on the target computer is executed, wherein the location on the target computer is previewable at the source computer through the spring-loaded portal. Whether to abort the transferring of data is determined. The spring-loaded portal is minimized from the open position to the closed position.
