摘要： An onboard forward monitoring system is disclosed in which three television cameras, each supported by a steering mechanism, take picture of a road surface located forward of a vehicle at near distance, a medium distance and a far distance zone to detect white lines which partition a lane on the road surface, thus detecting a vehicle running ahead on the lane which is defined by the white lines. To enable a reliable detection and tracking of the vehicle running ahead in any zone of the road surface even when the road is curved, the individual television cameras are steered so that a vehicle running ahead is positioned at the center of the screen whenever such vehicle is present and so that a center across the width of the lane is positioned at the center of screen when a vehicle running ahead is not detected.

摘要： An obstacle detecting system comprises an optical unit having a plurality of spaced laser diodes each of which emits a laser beam, a convex lens spaced from the optical unit in the frontward direction thereof and establishing a combined beam after each the laser beam passes through the convex lens, and a driving device for adjusting the relationship between each the laser beam and the convex lens. Such structure enabling the detection of the obstacle such as a vehicle in such manner that the obstacle is fallen within the width of the combined beam by adjusting the relationship between each the laser beam and the convex lens.

摘要： A radar device in which a much more precise demodulation can be made with an inexpensive circuit, free of the output variation of the frequency-modulated transmission signal. The radar device includes an oscillator which produces and outputs a frequency-modulated electromagnetic wave to a switching circuit by way of a directional coupler. The switching circuit uses switching modulation to radiate the electromagnetic wave from a transmitting antenna. The radiated electromagnetic wave after being reflected from an obstacle is received at a reception antenna. A mixer mixes this reception signal and a local signal fed from the directional coupler to produce a mixing signal which is to be fed to a high pass filter. The high pass filter deletes a low frequency output variation noise which is contained in the mixing signal and which occurs in the frequency modulation in the oscillator. The resulting mixing signal is, with the noise deleted, fed by way of an AC amplifier, to a switching demodulating circuit.

摘要： An animal body detecting system adapted to be mounted on a vehicle is capable of simply and accurately detecting whether or not an animal exists, i.e. for detecting a distance to an object in front of the vehicle and for discriminating whether or not the object is an animal at the same time, by utilizing electromagnetic waves. The system is comprised of transceiver devices for emitting a radio wave of a first frequency of 10 GHz and that of a second frequency of 60 GHz whose frequency is higher than the first frequency in the same direction and for receiving reflected waves; and discriminating devices for generating material detection data indicative of whether or not a combination, i.e. a ratio or a product, of receiving levels of the reflected waves of the respective frequencies is a combination of the case when the reflecting object is an animal body. It further comprises a detector for detecting a distance to the reflecting object based on the emitted waves and the received reflected waves. The system utilizes the discrimination result of whether or not the object is an animal and the measured distance thereto when traveling at night, in controlling the distance between vehicles and in controlling a vehicle speed.
