    • A method of machining seats of a compressor piston having an approximately hemispherical recess. A surface of a piston extending perpendicular to an axis of the piston is machined by annularly moving a cutting element while the cutting element is rotated with respect to the piston to form an annularly cut portion. The surface is further machined by moving the same cutting element in a direction toward the surface while the cutting element and the piston are relatively rotated to form a hemispherical recess in the surface. The firstly formed annularly cut portion becomes an annular chamfered portion on the periphery of the hemispherical recess. In this way, it is possible to form the hemispherical recess, and the annular chamfered portion on the periphery thereof, with the common cutting tool.

The front and rear cam rollers (14F, 14R) are positioned so that the axes of rotation thereof are not included in the center plane defined by longitudinal axes of the piston (8) and the disc cam (13) but disposed, respectively, in the opposite areas sectioned by the center plane with a substantially equal deviation from each other from the center plane. According to the above structure, the rolling motion of the piston (8) can be effectively restricted throughout the operation of the compressor.

    • A swash plate type compressor is disclosed which is intended to prevent a hemispherical shoe, provided between the piston and the swash plate, from being spun on slat surface of the swash plate during operation of the compressor. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the swash plate is formed with a step and the shoe with a cut portion engageable with the step so that the shoe is prevented from being spun on the slant surface of the swash plate which provides a turning moment to the shoe. The step is formed by an annular projection having an annular wall portion defining the inner limit of the slant surface area of the swash plate with which the flat face of the hemispherical shoe is kept in sliding contact, and the cut portion of the shoe has a curved surface conforming to the curvature of the annular wall portion. The shoe is located with its cut portion slidably contactable with the annular wall portion.
