摘要： A surgical scalpel includes an elongate handle that has a proximal end, a open distal end and sidewalls that define an upwardly open cavity with a bottom with an open void therein. The sidewalls each have an elongate channel therein. The scalpel of the invention includes a cartridge that is removably retained within the cavity. The cartridge includes a shield. The cartridge has a blade holder with a proximal end and a distal end mounted within the shield for slidable movement between a proximal and a distal position. There is a latch on the blade holder for engaging the handle and the shield to retain releasably the blade holder in the distal position and the proximal position. The scalpel has a blade fixedly attached to the blade holder so that when the blade holder is in the distal position, the blade projects distally from the handle. When the blade holder is in the proximal position, the blade is within the shield and the handle and thus substantially protected from inadvertent exposure.

An upper snap fit connection is formed between upper female impressions (such as tabs) in the combination light handle cover at a relatively large diameter portion of the combination light handle cover in a zone upon its protective cover, which second female impressions snap fit to an upper extension ridge of the rigid light handle, which upper extension ridge has a diameter much greater than that of the lower extension ridge.

摘要： A flexible container is provided for the storage and mixing together of diluents and medicaments. The container incorporates multiple compartments, separated by peelable seals, in which the diluents and medicaments are stored. The container is constructed of thermoplastic materials having high oxygen and moisture barrier properties which allows the container to be stored for extended periods of time without degrading the contents. The seals are ruptured by manipulation of the container to thereby mix the contents together for delivery through standard IV arrangement to a patient. The seals are constructed to provide a non-linear resistance characteristic to hydraulic pressure, which causes the seal to peel open completely along its length. The container is folded-over along the line of one of the seals and also includes a locking tab and retaining slot to secure the bag in a folded-over condition.

摘要： Apparatus for safely and conveniently removing a blade from a surgical scalpel, and for disposing of used blades. The preferred embodiment includes an aperture through which the blade may be inserted into a container. The aperture is defined by parallel guide walls. A first and second shoulder project from one guide wall, and a third shoulder projects from the other guide wall. An angled blade deflector is disposed in the interior of the container, behind the aperture. Insertion of the scalpel blade into the aperture and against the angled blade deflector pushes the blade against the first and second shoulders, which causes the blade to deform and separate slightly from the handle and to engage the third shoulder. This third shoulder holds the rear of the blade within the aperture, so that manual withdrawal of the handle from the aperture detaches the blade from the handle, leaving the detached blade within the container for easy disposal.
