摘要： There is provided a container (4) for consumer goods, the container (4) comprising a first substrate layer (8) and a second substrate layer (10) overlying the first substrate layer (8). A first portion (3) of the first substrate layer (8) and a first portion (5) of the second substrate layer (10) form a compartment region (7), wherein a perimeter (18) of the compartment region (7) is completely sealed to form a sealed compartment (16) for containing one or more consumer goods. A second portion (9) of the first substrate layer (8) and a second portion (11) of the second substrate layer (8) form an access region (13) directly adjacent to the compartment region (7). The access region (13) comprises an unsealed area (22), wherein a perimeter (20) of the access region (13) extends around the unsealed area (22). The first substrate layer (8) is attached to the second substrate layer (10) at the perimeter of the access region. The unsealed area (22) is separated from the sealed compartment (16) by the completely sealed perimeter (18) of the compartment region (7). The container (4) further comprises a first line of weakness (128) extending at least partially within the unsealed area (22) of the access region (13) in the first substrate layer (8) only, the container (4) further comprising a second line of weakness (131) in the second substrate layer (10) only. The second line of weakness (131) has a different shape to the first line of weakness (128), wherein the difference in shape between the first line of weakness (128) and the second line of weakness (131) defines a closure tab (143) in the second substrate layer (10) in the unsealed area (22) of the access region (13).

摘要： A fully sealed pouch containing a drink is provided with a straw within the pouch accessible to allow a user to draw drink from the pouch. The pouch defines a top portion, a bottom portion, and respective side edges interconnecting the top portion and the bottom portion. A corner portion is defined between the top portion and one side edge, the corner portion being openable by a user to access the straw. The pouch forms a closed cavity containing the drink, the cavity being defined by the top portion, the bottom portion, and side edges and by at least one wall defining a front face and a rear face for the cavity. The front and rear faces are connected together in the top portion. The front and rear faces are continuous with each other at, or are connected along, the other of the side edges. The front and rear faces are connected, optionally via a gusset, to provide the bottom portion. The one side edge is formed by a first heat seal connecting the front and rear faces; and a second heat seal connects the front and rear faces and extends in an incomplete fashion from the top portion to the bottom portion, being spaced inboard of the first heat seal. The second heat seal divides the interior of the cavity into major and minor portions interconnected so that drink may flow between them, the minor portion lying between the first and second heat seals, and the straw being located within this minor portion. A number of different ways are described in which the corner portion may be opened along a line of weakness formed in the pouch and extending generally parallel to the top edge or the bottom portion from the first heat seal to and ending at the second heat seal.

In one aspect, a partially coated film comprises (a) a film having two outer surfaces, wherein a first outer surface is provided by a film layer that comprises from 70 to 100 percent by weight of a polyolefin having a density of 0.860 to 0.965 g/cm3; and (b) a coating on the first outer surface of the film comprising polyurethane, wherein the coating covers less than 25% of the surface area of the first outer surface of the film and wherein the coated portion of the film exhibits an Elmendorf tear in at least one of the machine direction or cross direction that is at least 20% less than the Elmendorf tear of the uncoated portion in the same direction, with the Elmendorf tear being measured in accordance with ASTM D1922.

摘要： A flexible packaging laminate has built-in opening/reclose and tamper-evidence features by forming the laminate from an outer structure joined in face-to-face relation to an inner structure. Score lines are formed in both structures to enable an opening to be formed through the laminate by lifting a flap or the like out of the plane of the laminate. The score line through the outer structure defines a larger opening than the score line through the inner structure, such that a marginal region of the outer structure extends beyond the edge of the opening portion of the inner structure. A pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to re-adhere the marginal region to an underlying surface of the inner structure adjacent the opening through the laminate. The outer score line includes at least one tear portion that is torn through upon initial opening, thus indicating the package has been at least partially opened.
