    • An image forming apparatus is provided with a photosensitive member; a charger including a corona ion generator and a grid electrode provided between the photosensitive member and the corona ion generator, and adapted for charging the surface of the photosensitive member while regulating the surface potential of the photosensitive member by the grid electrode; a current supply circuit connected to the charger and capable of supplying to the charger a first current not lower than a specified level for charging the surface of the photosensitive member at a first voltage at which an image of high contrast can be formed and a second current lower than the specified level for charging the surface of the photosensitive member at a second voltage at which an image having an intermediate gradation thereof emphasized is formed, the second voltage being lower than the first voltage; and a current switch circuit for switching the level of the current to be supplied to the charger means according to needs. Accordingly, a circuit construction of the charger can be simplified and the number of components thereof can be reduced, with the result that the price of the apparatus itself can be reduced.

    • An apparatus for assembling an optical cable comprises a spacer paying-out portion 7, a stationary ribbon supply unit 9, a gathering portion 14 and a taking-up portion 21. The spacer paying-out portion 7 supplies a spacer 2 having a spiral groove in the surface of a long spacer body from a supply reel 1 while revolving around a line axis X-X. The stationary ribbon supply unit 9 supplies a plurality of optical fiber ribbons 11. The gathering portion 14 forms the optical fiber ribbons 11 sent out of the stationary ribbon supply unit 9 into a cable core 15 by holding the optical fiber ribbons 11 within the spiral groove of the spacer 2 sent out of the spacer paying-out portion 7 and running forward while rotating on its center axis. The taking-up portion 21 winds the cable core 15 on a taking-up reel 20 while revolving around the line axis. A winding roller 8 (8′) having an rotational direction identical to an rotational direction of the supply reel 1 of the spacer 2 and used for winding the spacer 2 or the cable core 15 is installed adjacently before and after the gathering portion whereby to revolve the winding roller around the line axis in synchronization with the revolution of the spacer paying-out portion 7. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent a twisting of the spacer in the gathering portion resulting from a winding habit of the spacer during a step of assembling cables.

    • A photomask inspection apparatus includes a photoelectric converting portion, a first comparator, buffer memories, a design data converting portion, and second and third comparators. The photoelectric converting portion converts the respective beams of light having separately scanned adjoining identical unit patterns formed on a photomask into electrical signals. The first comparator compares these electrical signals with each other to find whether there is any inconformity between the unit patterns, and when any inconformity is found, the first comparator outputs coordinate information of the inconformity. The buffer memories store the electrical signals respectively when the inconformity is found by the first comparator. The design data converting portion converts only design data of peripheral coordinates of the coordinate information in the design data stored in the external memory into an inspection signal. The second and third comparators compare the electrical signals from the buffer memories with the inspection signal to identify a photomask pattern having a defect.

    • A circuit interrupter includes an arc extinction assembly for magnetically driving or blowing out an arc formed between a stationary contact and a movable contact. The assembly comprises a pair of coaxial windings which are disposed in proximity to the contacts so that the internal lines of magnetic force generated by and passing inside of the windings can act directly on the arc for magnetically driving the arc in one direction. Otherwise, the external lines of magnetic force would pass through the arc and the portion of the movable contact arm in the opposite direction to the internal lines of magnetic force, causing the adverse magnetic effect of retarding the arc extinction and contact separation.
