摘要： Featured is a particulate and pressure redirection barrier for an electrical breaker as well as a breaker embodying such a barrier. Such a barrier includes first through fifth segments, where the first segment includes a first and second side section and a bottom section that are coupled to each other so as to form a generally U shaped structure. The second segment is coupled to the first side section so it extends outwardly at an angle from the first side section. The third segment is coupled to the second side section so as to extend outwardly and at an angle from the second side section. The fourth segment is coupled to the second segment so as to extend outwardly from and at an angle with respect to the second segment. The fifth segment is coupled to the third segment so as to extend outwardly from and at an angle with respect to the third segment. Such a configuration of the fourth and fifth segments is such that gas flowing along a surface of the second or third segments is redirected at an angle with respect to that surface.

The shield apparatus further includes a shield element that is situated on an exterior surface of the coil spring and is structured to overlie at least a portion of an opening into the open region.

A space extending from the first portion, not occupied by the second portion, is generally occupied by a portion of the second arc plates. The second portion forms a debris shield between the second arc plates and the operating mechanism.

摘要： A moving contact assembly for a high-current interruption electric power switching apparatus has an inner carrier for the contact fingers that is rigidly held in a withstand position in an outer carrier by a spring biased cam follower pin engaging a cam profile on the inner carrier and configured to positively seat an inner carrier stop against an outer carrier stop on the outer carrier and to rapidly drive the inner carrier to a blow open position in response to a fault. The cam profile has an extended width divided between spaced apart cam profile sections to absorb the high closing and withstand forces. An abutment on the outer carrier resists bowing of the cam follower pin between the cam profile sections. Complementary convex and concave partial cylindrical surfaces on the inner carrier and a gas shield on the moving assembly carrier body maintain an arc gas seal during blow open.
