    • The present invention provides: a novel water-soluble copolymer which is excellent in performance for uses, such as detergent builders, pigment dispersants, and scale inhibitors. In addition, the present invention provides: a novel liquid detergent builder which has extremely excellent compatibility, high transparency when a liquid detergent composition comprises it, and excellent detergency; and a novel liquid detergent composition comprising the liquid detergent builder. The water-soluble copolymer, according to the present invention, is a novel water-soluble copolymer obtained by copolymerizing comonomers essentially including: an unsaturated monocarboxylic acid monomer (1); an unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer (2); and an unsaturated alcoholic monomer (3) having specific structures, with the copolymer being characterized in that the residual amount of the unsaturated dicarboxylic acid monomer is not more than 8 weight %, and the residual amount of the unsaturated alcoholic monomer is not more than 45 weight %.

    • The present invention provides a novel amino-group-containing polymer (salt) and a production process therefor wherein the amino-group-containing polymer (salt) is a product by a process including the step of introducing amino groups into a grafted polymer having a polyether skeleton, and can make good use of the reactivity or cationic property of at least primary amino groups and further, according to circumstances, secondary amino groups, and further can display various performances, such as curability useful for various uses and adsorbency onto films or fibers. The novel amino-group-containing polymer (salt) is a product by a process including the steps of: carrying out a graft polymerization of a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer component onto a polyether compound, wherein the monoethylenically unsaturated monomer component includes an unsaturated carboxylic monomer as an essential component, and wherein the polyether compound has a specific repeating unit in a ratio of not less than 30 mol % and has a number-average molecular weight of not less than 150; and introducing amino groups by carrying out a ring-opening addition of an alkylenimine to at least a part of carboxyl group portions of the monoethylenically unsaturated monomer component which has been graft-polymerized onto the polyether compound, wherein at least a part of the amino groups might be neutralized with an acid.

    • The present invention provides: a novel grafted polymer which has good hydrophilicity and is excellent in the adsorbency and the dispersibility; and a scale inhibitor and a detergent additive, both of which involve the use of this grafted polymer. The grafted polymer is obtained by a production process comprising the steps of: polymerizing an alkylene oxide component with an ethylene oxide content of at least 50 mol % to obtain a polyether compound (A) having a number-average molecular weight of not lower than 200; and graft-polymerizing a graft component (B) onto the resultant polyether compound (A) in a specific ratio, wherein the graft component (B) includes N-vinylpyrrolidone (b1) as an essential component and might further include a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer (b2), wherein when the monomer (b2) includes a carboxyl-group-containing monoethylenically unsaturated monomer (b2-1) including a monomer having a structure formable into a carboxylic acid (or salt) by hydrolysis, the resultant polymer is hydrolyzed such that not less than 50 mol % of all structural units as derived from the monomer (b2-1) can have a carboxyl group. The resultant grafted polymer is used for the scale inhibitor and the detergent additive.
