    • A nitrogen-containing sintered alloy includes at least 75 and not more than 95 percent by weight of a hard phase containing Ti, a group 6A metal and WC in a prescribed composition, and at least 5 and not more than 25 percent by weight of a binder phase containing Ni, Co and unavoidable impurities. The alloy contains at least 5 and not more than 60 percent by weight of a carbide, nitride or carbonitride of Ti, and at least 30 and not more than 70 percent by weight of a carbide of a metal belonging to the group 6A of the periodic table. The atomic ratio of nitrogen/(carbon+nitrogen) in the hard phase is at least 0.2 and less than 0.5. The alloy includes a soft layer containing a binder phase metal and WC at its outermost surface, and includes a layer that hardly contains any of the hard phase containing WC in a region immediately under the soft layer, with a thickness of at least 3 .mu.m and not more than 30 .mu.m. A nitrogen-containing sintered alloy with such a composition can be employed as a cutting tool having a high reliability even without a surface coating and even for working under conditions causing strong thermal shock.

    • A high-performance drilling stabilizer is provided that is high in both wear resistance and strength. Blades are bonded to a stabilizer body. The blade is split into at least two segments. The blade segments are bonded to the stabilizer body to form the blade. A laminate made of cemented carbide and having a laminate structure made up of at least two layers is bonded to the top of each of the blade segments. The laminate has a thickness of between 1 mm and 5 mm. The cobalt contents of the respective layers decrease stepwise from the innermost layer toward the outermost layer.

    • An insert chip of an oil-drilling tricone bit includes an insert-chip substrate made of a cemented carbide of a first composition, and further includes a cemented carbide coating layer constituted of at least two stacked coating layers made of a cemented carbide of a composition different from the first composition. The cemented carbide coating layer covers the whole of a cutting edge of the insert-chip substrate. The coating layers each have a thickness, at a tip portion of the cutting edge, in a range from 0.1 mm to 2.5 mm, and the total thickness of the cemented carbide coating layer is in a range from 1 mm to 5 mm. The coating layers include an outermost cemented carbide layer and at least one intermediate coating layer in addition to the outermost cemented carbide layer, and the outermost cemented carbide layer has a hardness higher than that of the at least one intermediate coating layer and of the insert-chip substrate.

Below this area, the content of the binder phase decreases gradually so that its content becomes equal to the average content of the binder phase at a depth of 800 .mu.m or less. The content of the binder phase in the surface layer is 90% or less of its maximum value. The depth of 800 .mu.m is a value at which the thermal conductivity is kept sufficiently high and at the same time a tool can keep high resistance to plastic deformation during cutting.

    • There is provided a message hub apparatus for efficiently processing service processing messages in an enterprise system. The message hub apparatus stores a value of minimum residence time as minimum time during which the service processing message is to reside in a message queue. The message present in the message queue is transmitted to a service provider on condition that the minimum residence time has elapsed. The apparatus performs a merge processing of the received service processing message and the service processing message which resides in the queue. A history of the merge processing stored in the apparatus is analyzed, and the value of the minimum residence time is modified based on an analysis result.
