    • A coordinates measuring head unit is provided, which is compact, inexpensive, and capable of performing high-precision measurements at high speeds, and facilitates, for example, measurements conducted on machine tools or in-situ measurements on transport lines.     • A fuel supply device for internal combustion engines comprising a computer having a memory which stores an air flow quantity characteristic related to a pressure difference between the up- and down-streams of a throttle valve, an air flow quantity to pass the throttle valve and the throttle valve opening degree. A throttle valve actuator is moved by the computer for controlling an air flow quantity to be supplied to an engine. A plurality of sets of throttle valve opening degrees, air flow quantities or pressure differences corresponding to a variety of combinations between a desired air flow quantity and the pressure difference, throttle valve opening degree or air flow quantity at the present time point are read out of memory on the basis of the air flow quantity characteristic, and by an interpolation process the desired throttle valve opening degree, the air flow quantity or pressure difference at the present time point is computed to thereby adjust the throttle valve so as to be in a desired opening degree, the throttle valve opening degree so that the air flow quantity is to be at a desired value or the throttle valve opening degree so that the pressure difference is at a desired value by the throttle valve actuator. This is done in order to enable to a proper supply of an air flow quantity always appropriate to the operating status of the engine without using an air flow sensor. In case the change from the air flow quantity at the present time point to a desired air flow quantity is large, the estimated value of throttle valve opening degree is calculated from the desired value of pressure difference and desired air flow quantity and the throttle valve opening degree is adjusted into this estimated value or desired value.

    • Maintaining maximum power at wide-open throttle in a fuel injection type of internal combustion engine having a computer receiving input from (1) an accelerator pedal, (2) a pressure-drop sensor across the air intake-throttle, and (3) an engine-speed sensor, the computer producing output controlling an actuator that controls the position of the throttle and controlling a valve that controls the instantaneous amount of fuel being injected. The movement of the throttle towards its wide-open position is stopped just before it reaches that position where an accurate reading of pressure drop across the throttle can be and is being obtained. Substantially instantaneously, the airflow and proper air-fuel flow ratio are calculated for the stopped position while the throttle movement is checked. From these calculated amounts and the known relationship of the stoped position to the wide-open position, the computer then calculates what the airflow will be at the wide-open throttle position and then determines what the fuel flow should be, given the stored and desired air-fuel ratio. Then the throttle is advanced to its wide-open position, while simultaneously, the computer acts on the basis of the calculated airflow and fuel flow for the wide-open position to generate the flow relationship of fuel and air for the engine.
