    • An article transport apparatus comprises: an article transporting mobile body movable along a predetermined path extending along a storage rack having a plurality of article storage units; a loading unit disposed on the predetermined path for supporting an article to be stored; an article transfer device disposed on the mobile body for transferring the article; operation control device for controlling traveling operation of the mobile body and transfer operation of the article transfer device; and article position detection device for detecting a position, in a first direction along a traveling direction of the mobile body, of the article transferred from the loading unit to the mobile body; wherein the operation control device obtains a misalignment amount with respect to a predetermined proper position, in the first direction, of the article transferred from the loading unit to the mobile body, based on detected information from the article position detection device, and corrects a horizontal component of an article transfer position for an article storage unit to which the article is to be transferred, based on the misalignment amount.

    • In response to a storing command to store a plurality of articles to different storage units of the rack, the control device of article storage facility performs a multiple storing operation wherein the control device controls horizontal movements of the plurality of moving members, vertical movements of the plurality of transfer device provided to each of the plurality of moving members, and transfer operations of the plurality of transfer device in order to cause the plurality of the transfer device: to be at respective storage/retrieval positions; to receive articles from respective article supports; and to move to rack side article transfer positions corresponding to the storage units in which the articles are to be stored and d) to transfer the received articles to the storage units.

    • The invention provides a stacker crane, configured to move on a single rail provided along one or more racks, includes: a first wheel that moves on the rail; a second wheel that moves on the rail, and that is disposed spaced apart from the first wheel in a fore-and-aft direction; a vehicle frame supported by the first wheel and the second wheel; first drive supported by the vehicle frame for driving the first wheel. The vehicle frame includes: a first support frame for supporting the first wheel and the first drive means; a second support frame for supporting the second wheel; and a connection frame that connects the first support frame and the second support frame. The stacker crane also includes a first support post that extends vertically and whose lower end portion is connected to the first support frame; a second support post that extends vertically and whose lower end portion is connected to the second support frame; and a vertically movable platform that is guided by the first support post and the second support post, and that can move vertically with respect to the vehicle frame.
