    • A surface of aluminiferous metal is brought into contact at 25 to 65.degree. C. for 2 to 100 seconds with a surface treatment bath with a pH of 1.0 to 6.0 that contains phosphate ions, dissolved titanium and/or zirconium compounds, dissolved fluorine-containing anions, and a water soluble polymer in the following weight proportions: 1-100:1-50:1-200:1-200. This is followed by a water rinse and drying. The water soluble polymer has a chemical structure conforming to formula (I), in which each of X.sup.1 and X.sub.2 represents a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 alkyl group, or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.5 hydroxyalkyl group; each of Y.sup.1 and Y.sup.2 represents a hydrogen atom or a moiety "Z" that to formula (II) or (III), wherein each of R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, and R.sup.5 represents a C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 alkyl group or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.10 hydroxyalkyl group; the average value for the number of Z moieties substituted on each aromatic ring in the polymer molecules is from 0.2 to 1.0; n is an integer; and the average value of n for the total polymer is from 2 to 50. ##STR1##

    • An opening/closing control device for a grille shutter is capable of appropriately opening and closing the grille shutter according to a vehicle outside environment and an operating state of an aircon while ensuring the operation of the aircon, and is capable of sufficiently improving vehicle operating efficiency. An aircon operating time ratio as a ratio of operation time of an aircon to overall time is calculated. When the calculated aircon operating time ratio is larger than the sum of a threshold value calculated according to an ambient air temperature and a hysteresis constant, the grille shutter is opened to promote cooling of refrigerant in the aircon and reduce motive power consumed by the aircon. Therefore, it is possible to appropriately open and close the grille shutter depending on the ambient air temperature and the operating ration of the aircon.

    • A power supply apparatus of an engine electrical system reliably starts the engine even in a battery-less apparatus or in a condition that the battery is completely discharged.     • The present invention is to provide a fuel injection system which can inject an appropriate amount of fuel from an electronically controlled fuel injection apparatus while returning vapor existing somewhere in the fuel passages, even in the condition that the fuel tank is disposed below the electronically controlled fuel injection apparatus. In the present invention, a fuel tank 10 is disposed below an electronically controlled fuel injection apparatus 12. A fuel reservoir chamber 18 for supplying fuel from the fuel tank 10 is disposed above the electronically controlled fuel injection apparatus 12, and the fuel stored in the fuel reservoir chamber 18 is supplied to the electronically controlled fuel injection apparatus 12 via a fuel supply passage 24.
