    • An accelerator module comprises a printed circuit board having resistance elements mounted thereon, and an actuator pivotably mounted upon the printed circuit board and having a wiper member mounted upon a first end of the actuator. A rotary input shaft, connected to an accelerator pedal of an electric vehicle, has an input shaft arm fixedly mounted thereon, and the input shaft arm is pivotably connected to a second end of the actuator whereby the structural arrangement defines a mechanically advantaged linkage system whereby a predetermined pivotable movement of the rotary input shaft and its associated input shaft arm translates into an enhanced, enlarged, or magnified pivotable movement of the actuator and its associated wiper member for movement along the resistance elements of the printed circuit board.

    • A combination electrical connector and electrical switch comprises a three-sided shroud portion formed upon the electrical switch housing so as to ensure proper electrical connection of the electrical switch and electrical connector in a polarized manner. The electrical connector comprises electrical contacts which include insulation displacement portions for electrical connection to external wiring, and blade reception portions for electrical connection to blade members of the electrical switch wherein all electrical connections are solderless. The blade reception portions of the contacts comprise oppositely disposed, flexible members which are integrally connected together and which are able to self-generate the necessary forces to engage and retain the blade members of the electrical switch.

    • The present invention relates to a wire engagement and release arrangement for electrical switches, and the like, wherein the wire engagement arrangement consists of an electrical contact which is bifurcated to form two flat spring arms, one of which is shorter than the other. A pair of individual passageways through the housing of the device to be wired are provided for receiving the bare end of an electrical wire of a pair of insulated wires which are inserted into the passageways so as to pass therethrough against the ends of the spring arms whereby the spring arms will deflect and will force the bare ends of these wires against the housing walls of the electrical device. The ends of the spring arms are provided with widened portions which allow the force on the bare ends of the wire to be applied over a larger area. The release arrangement is provided by a pair of elongated apertures which extend through parallel surfaces of the housing that are aligned normal to the side dimension of the flat spring arms. The elongated apertures are offset from each other and are positioned so that their elongated axes are not substantially normal to their adjacent spring arm. The connecting wires may thus be released individually from the spring arms by movement of a pin in the elongated aperture. The aperture is dimensioned so that the spring arm cannot be deflected far enough to overstress it, and thereby cause it to take a set.

    • A method and apparatus for actuating an electrical switch and providing a variable electrical resistance usable to sense displacement of a movable member. The apparatus includes a housing for receiving the electrical switch, a variable resistance element, and an actuator with a body member and a transverse cylindrical sleeve. An electrically conductive wiper is coupled to the actuator and contacts the variable resistance element, which varies with pivotal movement of the actuator. The body member is pivotably supported by an aperture of the housing about an axis of the cylindrical sleeve, and a spring member biases the actuator toward an initial position, wherein the actuator is pivotable against the bias of the spring to actuate the electrical switch and to provide the variable resistance by positioning the electrically conductive wiper along the variable resistance element. A guide surface within the housing guides the actuator and the electrically conductive wiper in fixed relation relative to the variable resistance element when the body member is pivoted within the housing. The cylindrical sleeve protrudes through an aperture of the housing, and is coupled to the movable member by a collar with a set screw without having to calibrate the variable resistor or the switch actuation timing.

    • The present invention relates to electrical switches which are incorporated into a keylock, and more particularly, to switches of the type which have a rotatable mechanism which turns with the key, and fixed electrical terminals at the end of the keylock remote from the keyslot. In this type of switch, the contact member consists of a short conductive rod in a retaining cup which has a boss on its. A coiled spring is positioned over the boss on its upper end, and its lower end is retained in a blind aperture in a receptacle in the keylock. The keylock has a pair of extending arms which clamp the base with the electrical terminals of the switch in a fixed relationship with respect to the outer housing of the keylock while the conductive rod and the retaining cup rotate with the lock mechanism. The terminals have heads which are spaced from the base, and the retaining cup has a thin rim which has a lip on it which is shaped to allow the base to be held onto the retaining cup when the cup is turned relative to the base so that the elongated conductive bar is positioned in the open switch position, thereby allowing the complete assembly to be handled as a separate unit.
