    • A brake control system for a motor vehicle having wheels, service brakes for supplying a service braking effort to a plurality of the wheels, sensing means for detecting standstill of the vehicle, and a parking brake engageable to supply a park braking effort to a subset of the plurality of wheels. The system comprises brake actuation means for actuating the service brakes to supply the service braking effort; and brake control means for controlling the brake actuation means to supply an automatic component of the service braking effort. The brake control means is arranged, when standstill of the vehicle is detected and before the parking brake is engaged, to cause the brake actuation means to supply the automatic component of the service braking effort only to the subset of the plurality of wheels.

    • An electrographic printing machine (10) including multiple print counters (23; 26) is disclosed. The printing machine (10) is capable of printing images on various receiver sheet types, including transparencies, label stock, and of course paper of various composition, finish, size, and color. A main print counter (23) keeps a count of each sheet printed by the printing machine (10), regardless of receiver sheet type. Receiver sheet type counters (26) are each associated with a receiver sheet type, and maintain counts of sheets printed by receiver sheet type. The contents of type counters 26 can be used in the calculation of printing charges, maintenance intervals, and the like, considering that machine wear, contamination, and use of consumables varies for various receiver sheet types.

    • A brake control system for a motor vehicle having a plurality of wheels, brakes for applying a braking force to one or more of the wheels, sensing means for detecting movement of the vehicle, and one or more selectable drive gears each associated with an intended direction of movement of the vehicle. The system comprises: brake actuation means for actuating the brakes to supply a braking effort; and brake control means for controlling the brake actuation means, wherein the brake control means is arranged to detect the selection of a drive gear and, when a drive gear is selected, to limit a movement of the vehicle in a direction opposed to the intended direction of movement associated with the selected drive gear by ensuring that the brake actuation means supplies a braking effort.

    • In an aspect of the invention there is provided a control method for a vehicle travelling on a surface, the vehicle having a vehicle powertrain for generating and delivering power to the vehicle wheels, the method including: measuring one or more parameters associated with motion of the vehicle on the surface; comparing the or each of the measured parameters with a predetermined threshold for said measured parameter that is indicative of a level at which wheel slip of the vehicle may occur; and in circumstances in which one or more of the measured parameters exceeds the predetermined threshold, controlling the torque applied by the powertrain to the vehicle wheels to prevent wheel slip.
