摘要： An authenticated identity propagation and translation technique is provided based on a trust relationship between multiple user identification and authentication services resident on different computing components of a multi-component transaction processing computing environment including distributed and mainframe computing components. The technique includes, in one embodiment, forwarding, in association with transaction requests, identified and authenticated user identification and authentication information from a distributed component to a mainframe component, facilitating the selection of the appropriate mainframe user identity with which to execute the mainframe portion of the transaction, and creating the appropriate run-time security context.

摘要： A distributed Java virtual machine method and system for managing distributed heterogeneous network nodes to timely and efficiently meet demand for service requests. Upon receipt of a request for service, Java workload manager (JWLM) of the present invention classifies the request into a particular type of service, places the work on a logical queue to be executed. Routing queues place the work on one of many available nodes. The work is distributed to the nodes based on accounting, availability and past performance of all nodes considered. Changes are made periodically to the system to meet demands for service and/or conserve resources. JWLM of the present invention learns the needs of programs over time and does not require the intervention of a system administrator. The system does not rely on system specific metrics. JWLM may use performance metrics. Additionally, the present invention allows objects to be distributed and run on distributed workstations by distributing work through the cluster of workstations, while behaving as if it were initiated locally on the machine on which it runs. The similar type of work sent to different workstations may have the same class names, and the classpath may hold different implementations of that object at a particular workstation. Thus, at dynamic compilation time, if a platform has a more efficient feature than others, a work unit is dynamically compiled with the more efficient feature.

摘要： A computer system includes a virtual machine supporting an object-oriented environment, in which programs to run on the virtual machine are formed from classes including methods. Applications run on the virtual machine. After a first such application has run on the virtual machine, a reset is performed on the virtual machine. The reset calls a first method in a class to perform a tidy-up operation which effectively puts the virtual machine back into a clean state. Subsequently a second application can be started on the virtual machine. As part of this start-up, the system calls a second method in the class to perform a reinitialization of the class.

A first set of hardware accelerator resources is initially assigned to a first information processing system, and a second set of hardware accelerator resources is initially assigned to a second information processing system. Jobs running on the first and second information processing systems are monitored. When one of the jobs fails to satisfy a goal, at least one hardware accelerator resource in the second set of hardware accelerator resources from the second information processing system are dynamically reassigned to the first information processing system.
