摘要： In apparatus for pouch forming, filling and sealing, a printed web, having registration marks at locations where transverse seals are to be formed in order to form a pouch, is fed through drive rolls; over a plow which forms a longitudinal fold in the web; around a sealing wheel having lands which the web contacts to form transverse pouch-forming seals; around a filler where product is poured into the pouches; past a top sealer and a cutoff where the pouch forming is completed and the individual pouches are severed by knives. A photoelectric scanner scans the registration marks and produces a pulse when each passes the scanner. An electric eye cooperating with a disk driven by the machine determines the position of the sealer lands. A tachometer driven by the machine produces pulses proportional to the speed of the machine. A stepping motor continuously drives the drive rolls. The outputs from the photoelectric scanner, the electric eye and the tachometer are used in association with a microprocessor for controlling the position of the registration marks with respect to the lands so as to form transverse seals on the pouches between the printed matter associated with each pouch.

摘要： An animal fluid injector is provided with a syringe guide, preferably in the form of a pressure jacket, having an open front end through which a replaceable disposable syringe is loadable into and unloadable from, thereby permitting replacement without retraction of the syringe plunger drive or disconnection of the injection tubing. The injector is provided with structure, preferably in the form of thread sections, which mates with cooperating structure on the syringe, to connect and lock the syringe to the injector, preferably by rotational motion of, preferably, less than a full turn, of for example, 90.degree.. In the illustrated embodiment, the structure is at the front end of the guide or at the front periphery of a jacket to connect to threads on a pressure restraining front end of the syringe. A mechanism in the injector, which includes, for example, a key on cam ring provided with a lever that is preferably manually operable with one hand of an operator, interacts with structure such asymmetrically spaced notches on the back end of the syringe to, for example, rotate the syringe and simultaneously translate or rotate a coupling on the syringe plunger into and out of engagement with jaws provided of a plunger drive in the injector.

The apparatus includes major and minor knife hubs cantilevered on respective shafts and driven by a continuous backwrapped chain or timing belt. Rigid knife blades are mounted to interchangeable knife blocks on the major knife hub having varying radial dimensions to accommodate varying pouch chordal distances. The minor knife hub is laterally adjustable relative to the major knife hub along a fixed path to accommodate the substantial changeover.

摘要： Pouching apparatus for increasing the volume of material packed into a pouch. The apparatus includes a filler wheel assembly, means for rotating said assembly, a vacuum transfer wheel mounted below said filler wheel assembly and rotatable therewith, a plurality of vertical lands circumferentially spaced around said transfer wheel to receive a web of pouches, means for applying vacuum to said lands, a plurality of tuck fingers movably mounted on the transfer wheel between said lands, a stationary, circumferential cam mounted adjacent said transfer wheel to raise said tuck fingers to form an upward tuck in the bottom of each pouch of said web thereby increasing its capacity. The apparatus also includes clips to hold the web on the lands of the transfer wheel. The apparatus also includes a feed roll which feeds said web onto said transfer wheel at a preselected speed somewhat greater than the speed of said transfer wheel to force pouches into the space between said lands. The apparatus further includes means providing one or more jets of air to open the pouches prior to filling.

摘要： A rotary knife apparatus for depositing filled pouches in preselected count stacks along a travelling product conveyor. The rotary knife apparatus includes a rotating disc valve intermediate negative and positive pressure sources on one side and a rotary knife hub on the other side. The rotating disc valve includes a plurality of arcuate slots and apertures which communicate with the negative and positive pressure sources and axial ports in the knife hub such that the knife hub holds and expels the filled pouches along defined segments of rotation of the knife hub. The rotating disc valve has a dynamically variable rotational speed relative to a rotational speed of the knife hub for changing a predetermined number of different angular drop-off points during a period of rotation of the knife hub to correspondingly change the preselected count of pouches in a stack.
