    • A control device for an internal combustion engine includes a crank angle detecting device, which detects the crank angle of the internal combustion engine; a cam angle detecting device, which is installed in a variable cam shaft which variably rotates with respect to a crank shaft and detects a cam angle; a device for generating a cylinder identifying signal, which is separately located from the cam angle detector and generates the cylinder identifying signal, which identifies cylinders of the internal combustion engine; a device for varying valve timing, which varies the cam angle with respect to the crank angle; a valve timing controller, which controls the varying valve timing device; and a mechanism for controlling the internal combustion engine even when the cam angle detecting device is troubled because a control of supplying fuel and igniting is based on an identification of the cylinders by a signal from the device for generating the cylinder identifying signal.

    • Provided is a test apparatus including: an address generator that generates an address of a memory under test; a selector that selects whether to perform bit inversion on the address generated by the address generator before supplying the address to the memory under test; an inversion processing section that outputs the address generated by the address generator after performing bit inversion on the address if the selector has selected in the affirmative, and outputs the address generated by the address generator without performing any bit inversion on the address if the selector has selected in the negative; and a supply section that supplies, to the memory under test, the address having undergone inversion control outputted from the inversion processing section and an inversion cycle signal that indicates whether the address outputted from the inversion processing section is bit inverted or not.

    • An electronic control apparatus for a vehicle performs a rewrite execution permission/refusal determination while preventing leakage of a keyword or passcode without the need of grasping the keyword or passcode on the part of external equipment that requests rewriting the contents of the electronic control apparatus. Control programs and control data for controlling the vehicle are stored in a nonvolatile memory. The contents of the memory are rewritten by a rewriting part according to a request from the outside. A rewrite execution permission/refusal determination part creates a passcode which is uniquely defined in accordance with a prescribed rule from identification data which is decided upon receipt of a rewrite request, and makes a rewrite execution permission/refusal determination based on the result of collation between a passcode which has been created similarly by an external device from the identification data which has been sent to the external device and returned therefrom.

    • When an internal combustion engine is run at a high speed revolution, a large increase in a processing time executed every predetermined crank angle position can be suppressed, and fluctuations or variations in response characteristics can be reduced, thus enabling better valve timing control. To this end, a control apparatus for an internal combustion engine includes a variable valve timing mechanism, an actual advance amount detector for detecting an actual valve timing position every predetermined crank angle position, a target advance amount setter for setting a target valve timing based upon a detection result of the operating condition detector, a controller for controlling the variable valve timing mechanism, an advance amount deviation calculator for calculating a deviation between the target advance amount and the actual advance amount every predetermined crank angle position, a differential value calculator for calculating, every predetermined time, a deviation between a current value of advance amount deviation and a preceding value thereof, and a control amount calculator for calculating a control amount used in the controller based upon both the advance amount deviation and the differential value.
