    • Techniques and tools for analyzing and adjusting the exposure of digital images are described. For example, a computer processes a digital image by analyzing exposure data, assigning an image classification (e.g., StretchNeeded, UnderExposed, OverExposed, or Normal) based on the analysis, and selecting an exposure compensation technique (e.g., histogram stretch, positive gamma curve, negative gamma curve, or no adjustment) based on the image classification. The exposure data can be luminance values for pixels in the digital image represented in a histogram. The computer can produce transform data comprising a transformation of the exposure data according to the selected exposure compensation technique. The computer can store transform data in a look-up table and can store the look-up table in the digital image file. The described techniques and tools can be implemented as a feature of an operating system environment and can be activated responsive to user action via a user interface.

    • Embodiments of apparatus and methods for detecting gestures are described. In embodiments, an apparatus may include a transmitter-receiver electrode arrangement to generate an electric field projecting beyond a side of a computing device, so that changes to the electric field caused by user gestures on or near the outer surface of the side may be sensed. The transmitter-receiver electrode arrangement may include at least a transmitter and a receiver that are different, but complementary in geometry and disposition, disposed relative to an inner surface of the side of the computing device. Moreover, a capacitive sensor may be disposed in the computing device to output electrical signals indicative of changes to the electric field sensed.     • A method and a system for intra-BS carrier handover are provided. The method comprises: a mobile station scanning predetermined carriers within the base station based on predetermined rules; obtaining a scanning report comprising channel quality information of part of or all of the predetermined carriers; and sending the scanning report to the base station; the base station obtaining the channel quality information in the scanning report; selecting a target carrier from the predetermined carriers; and informing the mobile station of the selected target carrier via a message; and the mobile station handing over to the target carrier in a predetermined manner in response to the message. By using the method, seamless handover of intra-BS carriers can be performed in a multi-carrier system for ensuring the service continuity of the mobile station to eliminate carrier handover time delay.
