摘要： An optical system of a laser reader has a light projecting portion for emitting a laser beam of light converging toward an object, a condenser lens for condensing a reflecting light from the object and a light receiving element for detecting light quantity of the reflecting light condensed by the condenser lens. The optical axis of the light projecting portion and that of the condenser lens are substantially parallel within a readable range which is established by a relation between a spatial frequency of the object and a spot diameter of the laser beam of light. The laser emits infrared radiation and a light emitting diode emits a visible guide light to confirm the position of the infrared laser spot.

摘要： An image scanning device is provided for reading an image of an object. The image scanning device includes: a linear image sensor outputting an image signal corresponding to a received image; an imaging lens positioned between the object and the image sensor; a scanning system rotatable through a predetermined scanning range around a predetermined axis parallel to the line of image receiving elements to scan an image of the object onto the image sensor; a focusing system for adjusting a focusing condition of the image scanning device; and a controller which, based on an image signal from the image sensor, adjusts the focusing system to set an in-focus focusing condition for a portion of the object located at a substantially central portion of the scanning range. The image scanning system may be set to the center of the scanning range and the controller, using image signals from the image sensor, may monitor the contrast of the image while adjusting the position of the imaging lens until the contrast is maximum.

摘要： A thermal printer for forming an image on a sheet, with the image having a plurality of line image data. The thermal printer includes a thermal head having a plurality of linearly arranged thermal elements for forming the image. The total number of the thermal elements to be driven is determined. The thermal elements are driven for a predetermined time period in accordance with the line image data if the number of thermal elements to be driven is not greater than a predetermined value. If the total number of the thermal elements to be driven is greater than the predetermined value, then the predetermined time period is divided into a number of fractional time periods and the thermal elements are intermittently driven for each of the fractional time periods. The predetermined value is determined to avoid sticking between the thermal head and a thermosensitive sheet due to excess heat.

A stationary guide member has a first surface defining the one guide surface, and a movable guide member having a second surface defines the other guide surface, which is shiftable relative to the stationary guide member. A shiftable member is shiftable relative to the stationary guide member between a guide position and a remote position. 摘要： An image scanning device is provided that includes an imaging lens, a linear image sensor that outputs a line image signal, a rotatable scanning mirror that deflects light towards the image sensor through the imaging lens, a scanning system for rotating the scanning mirror to scan a two-dimensional image, a focusing system that drives the imaging lens according to a position of the scanning mirror to maintain an in-focus image, and a magnification correction system which compensates for changes of magnification of the line image due to the driving of the imaging lens, such that distortion of the two-dimensional image is reduced. In particular, based on the assumption that an object is a flat surface that is perpendicular to an optical axis of the image scanning device, the magnification correction system compensates for the changes of magnification by calculating a difference between a reference magnification and a current magnification, and replaces a corresponding number of pixels from the line image signal with compensation pixels.
