    • At a user terminal (10) operatively connected with a mobile device (20), a print job is formed into an incomplete print job envelope (32) and completing data (34, 40) including at least print job accounting information (40). The completing data (34, 40) including at least the print job accounting information (40) is stored on the mobile device (20). The incomplete print job envelope (32) is transmitted to a printing device (12). The mobile device (20) is operatively disconnected the from the user terminal (10), and is operatively connected with the printing device (12). After the operative connecting, the print job is re-constructed at the printing device (12), and the re-constructed print job is printed using the printing device (12). A cost of the printing is accounted for based on the print job accounting information (40) stored on the operatively connected mobile device (20).

    • In a printing method, content of a print job is split into a main portion and a completing portion at a user terminal (10). The main portion is encrypted using the user terminal. The encrypted main portion (32) is sent to a printing device (12). The completing portion is encrypted using a mobile device (20) operatively connected with the user terminal. The encrypted completing portion (34) is stored on the operatively connected mobile device. The mobile device is operatively disconnected the from the user terminal, and is operatively connected with the printing device. After the operative connecting: (i) the encrypted main portion is decrypted using the printing device and the completing portion is decrypted using the mobile device; (ii) the decrypted main portion and the decrypted completing portion are combined to reconstruct the print job; and (iii) the reconstructed print job is executed using the printing device.

    • A secure release of a job request is managed at a document processing system that has been issued a private key and a public key. In one embodiment, the job request includes a first part specifying job information that is encrypted using a symmetric key, and a second part specifying the symmetric key that is encrypted with a recipient's public key. The document processing system begins release of the job request upon receipt of the symmetric key encrypted using its public key. The document processing system uses its private key to decrypt the encrypted symmetric key. The decrypted symmetric key is then used to decrypt the first part of the job request, thereby permitting the document processing system to complete performance of the job request.

    • A communication system and apparatus for a xerographic imaging system for enhanced collaborative communication between the machine user and the remote troubleshooting advisor. The machine includes an imager for showing a selected virtual representation of the machine including an image of the machine illustrating an area of the machine having the troubleshooting need. A communication link exists between the user and the advisor and comprises a bi-directional visualization of a selected virtual representation synchronously displayed to the user and the advisor via respective imagers. An image adjuster is operated by the expert for selective adjustment of the virtual representation to suggest a section of the area of the machine wherein action by the machine user may resolve the troubleshooting need. The selective adjustment is communicated to the machine user through the communication link whereby upon viewing this suggested adjustment, corrective action is suggested to the user. The corrective action is identified to the user by identifying a difference between the actual machine state and the shared virtual representation. The visual indicators may direct the user to a particular location and percussion centers on the machine identify a particular tapping location by the user to verify position identification to the troubleshooting expert.
