    • An end-modified soluble polyfunctional vinyl aromatic copolymer, which is improved in heat resistance, thermal stability, solvent solubility, and compatibility with acrylate compounds, and a curable resin composition using the same are disclosed. The end-modified soluble polyfunctional vinyl aromatic copolymer is obtained by allowing a divinyl aromatic compound (a), a monovinyl aromatic compound (b), and an aromatic ether compound (c) to react with each other, and has, at an end, an end group derived from the aromatic ether compound and having an acrylate bond. The copolymer has a number average molecular weight Mn of 500 to 100,000, an introduction amount (c1) of the end group derived from the aromatic ether compound satisfies (c1)≧1.0 (group/molecule), a molar fraction a′ of a structural unit derived from the divinyl aromatic compound and a molar fraction b′ of a structural unit derived from the monovinyl aromatic compound in the copolymer satisfy 0.05≦a′/(a′+b′)≦0.95. Besides, the curable resin composition includes the copolymer and an unsaturated acrylate monomer.

    • The present invention relates to a soluble polyfunctional vinylaromatic copolymer improved in heat resistance, resistance to thermal decomposition, solvent solubility, and processability. The soluble polyfunctional vinylaromatic polymer is obtained by cationically polymerizing, at a temperature of 20 to 120° C., one or more monomer ingredients including 20 to 100 mol % divinylaromatic compound (a) in the presence of a donor ingredient, e.g., a quaternary ammonium salt, with the aid of a Lewis acid catalyst and an initiator represented by the following general formula (1) wherein R1 represents hydrogen or a monovalent C1-6 hydrocarbon group; R2 represents an aromatic or aliphatic hydrocarbon group having a valence of p; Z represents halogen or C1-6 alkoxy or acyloxy; and p is an integer of 1 to 6; provided that when two or more R1's and Z's are present per molecule, they may be identical to different from each other.

    • Provided is a curable resin composition which has excellent optical properties, heat resistance, transparency, low water absorbability, and mold release property in molding, and reduces the occurrence of a burr from a mold. Also provided are a cured product thereof and an optical material. The curable resin composition includes: a component (A): a soluble polyfunctional (meth)acrylic acid ester copolymer which is obtained by copolymerizing components including a monofunctional (meth)acrylic acid ester (a) having an alicyclic structure, a bifunctional (meth)acrylic acid ester (b), and 2,4-diphenyl-4-methyl-1-pentene (c), has a reactive (meth)acrylate group derived from (b) in a side chain and a structural unit derived from (c) at an end, has a Mw of 2,000 to 20,000, and is soluble in an organic solvent; a component (B): a polyfunctional (meth)acrylate; and a component (C): an initiator, in which the blending amounts (weight ratio) of the respective components are as follows: (B)/(A)=5 to 250/100, and (C)/[(B)+(A)]=0.1 to 10/100.
