    • Disclosed herein is an air intake device for a compartment of automotive vehicle provided with a transversely elongated space between a rear end portion of an engine hood panel and a substantially horizontal plate of a cowl outer panel for inducing air to a compartment therefrom. The improvement comprises a windshield lower moulding plate arranged above the horizontal plate of the cowl outer panel in such a manner that it strides across a lower end portion of a windshield glass and extends transversely from one of fender panels of the vehicle to another, a second tube provided between the windshield lower moulding plate and the horizontal plate of the cowl outer panel to communicate with first tubes defined inside of the fender panels and an air inducing aperture opened through the horizontal plate covered with the windshield lower moulding plate. With this arrangement, even when the space is covered with snow, the second tube and the air inducing apertures are prevented from being blocked by snow and accordingly, air may be readily induced to the compartment.

    • A lighting system includes a fluorescent lamp 4 and a main body 1 for attaching the fluorescent lamp 4 thereto. The main body 1 is provided with a socket assembly 6 for the attachment of the fluorescent lamp 4, and an electronic ballast 7 for operating the fluorescent lamp 4 at dimmed levels (as well as at the full light level). The fluorescent lamp 4 is composed of a discharge tube formed of four U-shaped glass tubes that are connected together to form a square in plan view. Each glass tube has an inner diameter of 13.5 mm, and the discharge tube is filled with a rare gas containing neon and argon (at 50:50 ratio by volume).

    • The present invention provides a document verification system capable of verifying whether a document is an original at low cost and with ease. A terminal device acquires, as a registered feature vector feature information indicating a feature of a nonreproducible disorder portion in a printing region on a document serving as the original, and stores the registered feature vector on a hard disk via the Internet. A server acquires, as a calculated feature vector the same information as the registered feature vector in a document to be verified as to whether the document is the original, reads out the registered feature vector from the hard disk, compares the acquired calculated feature vector with the read out registered feature vector, and verifies whether the document to be verified is the original on the basis of a result of the comparison.
