    • A speed change gear system for industrial vehicles, includes a first planetary gear set having a first sun gear, a plurality of first planetary gears engaged with the first sun gear, a first ring gear interengaged with the first planetary gears, and a first carrier rotatably supporting the first planetary gears and connected with an input shaft, a second planetary gear set having a second sun gear connected with the first ring gear, a plurality of second planetary gears engaged with the second sun gear, a second ring gear interengaged with the second planetary gears and connected with the first sun gear, and a second carrier rotatably supporting the second planetary gears and connected with an output gear member. Another brake member may also be provided for imparting additional versatility to the system.

    • A compressor integral with a Stirling engine having a pressure space comprises a housing, a partition wall provided in the housing, a first pressure chamber defined in the housing at one side of the partition wall and connected with the pressure space of the Stirling engine, and a second pressure chamber defined in the housing at the other side of the partition wall and connected with the first pressure chamber via an orifice. A rod passes through the partition wall and has a first end and a second end located in the first pressure chamber and the second pressure chamber, respectively. A third pressure chamber is defined by a first plate which is connected to the first end of the rod and a first bellows located between the first plate and the partition wall. A fourth pressure chamber is defined by a first plate which is connected to the second end of the rod and a second bellows located between the second plate and the partition wall. First and second passages are formed in the partition plate, and an intake valve device is provided for establishing fluid communication between the first passage and either the fourth pressure chamber or the third pressure chamber whichever is under expansion. A discharge valve device is also provided for establishing fluid communication between the second passage and either the fourth pressure chamber or the third pressure chamber whichever is under compression.

    • A seal for a piston rod of a Stirling engine forcibly returns a fluid which has leaked into an intermediate chamber from this chamber to a fluid-filled chamber via an oil scraper adjacent thereto. The seal includes an O-ring secured to the piston rod at a position where the O-ring will be situated immediately above an oil scraper when the piston rod is at bottom dead center. The intermediate chamber includes a space contiguous to the oil scraper and of a reduced diameter sized to the outer diameter of the O-ring. When the piston rod descends toward bottom dead center, the O-ring is carried thereby into the reduced-diameter space toward the oil scraper. Owing to sliding pressured contact between the outer circumference of the O-ring and the inner wall of the reduced-diameter space, the latter is pressurized to forcibly impel a fluid, which has leaked into the intermediate chamber, from the reduced-diameter space into the fluid-filled chamber through the oil scraper.

    • Clutch controlling apparatus which may be utilized in industrial-type vehicles, such as for example, forklift trucks, for controlling the vehicle during inching operations includes a source of fluid pressure, a fluid pressure-type clutch fluidically connected to the pressure source, an inching valve disposed within the fluid circuit connecting the fluid pressure source and the clutch mechanism which controls the degree to which the clutch mechanism is actuated and which in turn is actuated to a degree which is dependent upon the depression of the vehicle brake pedal, and limitng means for selectively inactivating the inching valve such that the inching valve is inoperative independent of the brake pedal.In this manner, when the vehicle is being operated on level ground, the inching operation is performed by intermittently depressing the brake pedal which actuates the inching valve which in turn deactivates the clutch mechanism thereby terminating driving torque to the vehicle transmission. When the vehicle is operated upon ground having a downward slope, the limiting means inactivates the inching valve whereupon depression of the brake pedal does not actuate the inching valve so as to deactuate the clutch mechanism. Consequently, the vehicle is not effectively placed in a neutral condition and the vehicle does not operate in an uncontrolled manner and the inching operation may be performed by the braking means.The fluid pressure from the fluid pressure source is also exhausted directly from a drain port without passing through an orifice cylindrical section, so as to maintain a predetermined pressure when the brake is not actuated.

    • There is disclosed an oil-free compressor integral with a Stirling engine. The compressor is used as an air compressor or in air-conditioning equipment. The Stirling engine has a cylinder in which a displacer piston is slidable. An expansion space and a compression space are formed on opposite sides of the piston. The compressor comprises a first pressure chamber communicating with the compression space, a second pressure chamber connected with a Rankine heat pump circuit via valves, a first buffer chamber communicating with the compression space via a first orifice, and a second buffer chamber connected with the second pressure chamber via a second orifice. The first pressure chamber is partitioned from the second pressure chamber by a first diaphragm. The first buffer chamber is partitioned from the second buffer chamber by a second diaphragm. These two diaphragms are connected together by a rod such that they move together axially. The pressure acting on one side of each diaphragm is balanced by the pressure acting on the other side.
