摘要： Optical substrates such as films and sheets, and methods for making optical substrates are described. The optical substrates contain at least one layer that contains glass or polymeric materials and boron nitride particles. The boron nitride particles have the requisite optical properties as well as excellent thermal conductivity, thus minimizing the potential for cracks, waves and wrinkles due to excess heat generated in applications such as liquid crystal displays, projection displays, traffic signals, and illuminated signs.

摘要： A method for recovering carbon dioxide (CO2) from a gas stream is disclosed. The method includes the step of reacting CO2 in the gas stream with fine droplets of a liquid absorbent, so as to form a solid material in which the CO2 is bound. The solid material is then transported to a desorption site, where it is heated, to release substantially pure CO2 gas. The CO2 gas can then be collected and used or transported in any desired way. A related apparatus for recovering carbon dioxide (CO2) from a gas stream is also described herein.

摘要： In one embodiment, a system for recovering carbon dioxide from a gas stream, comprising: a reaction chamber having a first pressure and comprising a gas stream inlet; a phase-changing liquid sorbent, wherein the liquid sorbent is chemically reactive with carbon dioxide to form a solid material; a regeneration unit to decompose the solid material to released carbon dioxide gas and regenerated liquid sorbent; and a transport mechanism disposed between the reaction chamber and the regeneration unit and configured to mix the solid material with a liquid to form a slurry, pressurize the slurry, and transport the slurry to the regeneration unit. In one embodiment, a method of recovering carbon dioxide from a gas stream, comprising: chemically reacting carbon dioxide with a phase-changing liquid sorbent to form a solid material; mixing the solid material with a liquid to form a slurry; pressurizing and transporting the slurry to a regeneration unit; and heating the slurry to form carbon dioxide gas and regenerated liquid sorbent.

摘要： A method for separating carbon dioxide (CO2) from a gas stream is provided. The method includes reacting at least a portion of CO2 in the gas stream with a plurality of liquid sorbent particles to form a plurality of solid adduct particles and a first CO2-lean gas stream; the solid adduct particles entrained in the first CO2-lean gas stream to form an entrained gas stream. The method includes separating at least a portion of the plurality of solid adduct particles from the entrained gas stream in a separation unit to form an adduct stream and a second CO2-lean gas stream. The method further includes heating at least a portion of the adduct stream in a desorption unit to form a CO2 stream and a regenerated liquid sorbent stream. A system for separating CO2 from a gas stream is also provided.

摘要： A method for preparing a polymer-organoclay composite composition comprises combining a solvent and an unexfoliated organoclay to provide a first mixture, wherein the unexfoliated organoclay comprises alternating inorganic silicate layers and organic layers, and has an initial spacing between the silicate layers; exposing the first mixture to an energized condition of a sufficient intensity and duration to increase the initial spacing of the inorganic silicate layers, to provide a second mixture; contacting the second mixture with a polymer composition so that the polymer composition fills at least one region located between at least one pair of silicate layers, wherein the polymer composition is at least partially soluble in the solvent; and removing at least a portion of the solvent from the second mixture, wherein the inorganic silicate layers remain separated by the polymer after removal of the solvent.
