摘要： A method for producing a transparent article comprises the steps of melt transesterifying a monomer mixture in the presence of a transesterification catalyst to produce a hydroquinone polycarbonate copolymer product comprising greater than 45 mole percent of structural units derived from the hydroquinone. The monomer mixture comprises a hydroquinone, at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound other than the hydroquinone, and a carbonic acid diester. The hydroquinone polycarbonate copolymer product is then heated to a highest processing temperature of 5° C. to 20° C. above a maximum melting melt temperature for the hydroquinone copolymer product for a sufficient period of time to render the hydroquinone polycarbonate copolymer product transparent upon cooling to ambient temperature; and cooling the hydroquinone polycarbonate copolymer product to produce the transparent article. The method can also be used for producing transparent hydroquinone polycarbonate copolymers, which can be used for producing the transparent articles.

The footboard and the chock both include a wedges of resilient material having a substantially planar base surface and a length dimension substantially equal to the width dimension of the patient support surface. The footboard wedge also defines a foot support surface normal to its base surface. The chock defines an upwardly extending curved surface between the forward and rear edges of its base surface. The footboard and the chock further respectively include support members extending along the length of the wedges. Attachment means for affixing the footboard and the chock respectively to the patient support surface extend around the mattress portion of the bed between the opposite side edges of the base surfaces.

摘要： A stapler system for surgical suturing comprising a novel stapler and novel precurved staples designed for use with the stapler. Staples stored on a magazine are implanted by a ram mounted for reciprocal movement on the body of the stapler. The ram is moved to firing position by a handle pivotally mounted to the stapler body. As the handle is pivoted, a flat spring coupled to the ram is biased. When the ram reaches its firing position, the handle slips from engagement with the ram, thus permitting the biased spring to drive the ram downward so as to implant a staple into the incised tissue. The legs of the staple enter the tissue along a curved path. During implantation the staple is bent around an anvil causing the legs of the staple to penetrate the tissue along a curved path. Insertion of the staple legs along this curved path draws adjacent portions of incised tissue together. Just before the ram reaches the end of its drive stroke, the anvil is automatically withdrawn from between the sutured tissue and the fully implanted staple so as to minimize tissue trauma.

摘要： On-line rheological measurements are made utilizing a rheometer of the type in which a first metering pump delivers diverted melt from a process main stream to a capillary passage and a second metering pump returns the diverted melt from the capillary passage to the process main stream and the viscosity of the diverted melt is measured by controlling the rate of flow of the melt to maintain constant the pressure drop between spaced apart locations along the capillary passage and measuring the temperature of the melt in the capillary passage. The measurements may be made while controlling the speed of the second metering pump independent of the speed of the first metering pump to maintain the pressure at the exit of the capillary passage essentially constant. The capillary passage is placed in close proximity to the process main stream for maintaining a relatively short residence time during which the diverted melt resides outside the process main stream so as to attain a relatively quick response to changes in the measured viscosity. The rheometer includes a relatively thin plate interposed between first and second blocks, the plate including a slot establishing a chamber between the first and second blocks for providing the capillary passage.

摘要： A hook and leader storage box for fishermen, in most cases, a container used for holding factory tied fish hooks, hand tied fish hooks, and hand tied fishing leaders, that is buoyant and will float. The hook and leader storage box for fishermen is used in most cases for storage of tied hooks to fishing line. The top and bottom of each side of the hinged folding halves are notched for the loop on the end of the fishing line to secure to. Dowels for holding the loops of a snelled hook are also used. Under each notch is a hole for an elastic loop to be drawn through and fastened over the notch to secure the elastic loop. The elastic loop is pulled down to the fishing hook for attachment of the fishing hook to the elastic loop. When the elastic loop and fishing hook are attached it secures the hook and line within the hook and leader storage box. There are no lines or hooks outside the hook and leader storage box to catch on or be damaged by any other equipment while fishing. The two halves have a locking clasp to keep the hook and leader storage box for fishermen securely closed. The hook and leader storage box for fishermen can be carried in a shirt or pants pocket or most pockets on a persons clothing without being snagged by a fishing hook.
