    • A sound motion picture projection system which can be formed by a combination of a silent film projector and a sound recording and reproducing unit, wherein a silent film projector and a separate sound recording and reproducing unit are provided and minor modification is given to said silent film projector so that said silent film projector can be used as a projection unit only with said minor modification.And especially in this system when said sound unit is attached to said projection unit and continuous film advancing means provided at said sound unit is connected with a driving motor provided at said projection unit through a power transmission mechanism, and at a same time an intermittent film advancing means provided at a projection unit is connected with a part of said power transmission mechanism through a power transmission mechanism of variable speed type, further an output member of a loop sensing means provided at the sound unit is connected with said variable speed power transmission mechanism, so that an operating speed of the intermittent film advancing means at the projection unit is controlled depending on the change in an amount of film loop formed between a projection station of the projection unit and a sound recording and a reproducing station of the sound unit.

    • A motion picture projector having various functions such as, projecting and rewinding, all of which can be selectively performed by a single control knob, and including an intermittent-drive film advancing mechanism which comprises a pull-down structure, a compound cam of an up-and-down cam wheel and an in-and-out cam disk, and first and second cam followers arranged between the pull-down structure and the compound cam to be consecutively operated so that the pull-down claw enters the perforations of the film and moves it in a forward direction always by the length of a frame and at a desired frequency through a film gate mechanism. The film gate mechanism consists of a film guideway, a resilient thin aperture plate self-biased to move away from the film guideway and defining an actual projection aperture, and a movable film gate member arranged on the opposite side of the aperture plate from the guideway and biased to urge the aperture plate for guidance and support of the film against the guideway. The pull-down structure and the film gate member have respective input means arranged to be consecutively actuable by a common mode changeover means cooperative with the control knob. The mode changeover means has at least three switched positions, that is, a first position for a normal projecting operation, a second position where the pull-down structure is maintained disengaged from the in-and-out cam follower to project a still picture, and a third position where the film gate member and the aperture plate are spaced from the film guideway to permit continuous transportation of the film at a far faster speed than that occurring in the normal projecting mode of operation.

    • The present invention relates to a lens unit construction for motion picture and other type projectors. The unit is provided with a motion picture projecting lens construction, a mantle cover to be fixed on the fixing position of the motion picture projector body, a guide device for slidingly guiding and holding the lens construction holding device on the device plate in such a manner that the construction holding device is slidable only along the direction of the optical axis of the lens construction and an adjusting device for operating the slide motion of the construction holding device. The construction holding device or the adjusting device is provided with a cam follower pin while the other is provided with a focus adjusting cam groove in which the cam follower pin is engaged. An engaging device guides the cam follower pin so that it can be easily introduced into the cam groove at the time of assembling the construction holding device with the adjusting device to form one body and for preventing the cam follower pin from being easily brought out of the cam groove in such a manner that the construction holding device is cooperatively coupled with the adjusting device.

Thereby, when film introduction into the film path for sound recording and/or reproduction is detected by the film detecting means, the pressure pad means is automatically changed from the released position to the film pressing position.

    • Disclosed is a sound motion picture projection apparatus in which a head pad is urged by a spring member toward a film pressing position at which position the head pad presses a film against a magnetic head disposed along the sound recording and reproducing film path. The apparatus has a set mechanism of the self-holding type which sets the head pad against the urging force of the spring member to a film pressure releasing position at which position the head pad releases the pressing of the film, by the driving force of a driving motor and keeps the head pad to that position. The apparatus further has a film detecting member which is disposed in said sound film path after the magnetic head and operatively connected with the set mechanism in such a manner that the holding of the head pad at the film pressure releasing position by means of the set mechanism is released when the film detecting member detects the film introduced into the sound film path and thereafter the setting operation of the set mechanism is made ineffective as long as the film detecting member detects that a film exists in the sound film path. Thereby when the set mechanism is driven by the driving motor when no film exists at least in the sound film path, the head pad is automatically set to the film pressure releasing position and then the head pad is automatically changed from the film pressure releasing position to the film pressing position when the film detecting member detects the introduction of the film into the sound film path.

    • A video system comprising a video camera and a recording device to record video signals obtained by the video camera. The recording device includes a video tape recorder (VTR) which may be combined with the video camera when recording and otherwise may be combined with a reproduction unit. Mode switches in the VTR are changed over depending on the combination desired. When the VTR is used with the camera, the combination records sound, video signal and controls signals on a tape wound around a drum. A system control circuit controls various motors and solenoids control operation of the VTR. Power supply to the system is controlled by a power source switch in the VTR, which element provides "OFF", "STANDBY I" and "STANDBY II" modes. Delay elements operate in the two standby modes. When the power source switch is in either standby mode, loading is done automatically. One standby mode provides power to a rotating system and the other mode provides no power. The delay elements provide different delay times for each mode so that triggering of the camera can be made with due consideration for the start up time of the rotating system. The built-in delays are effective in conserving power.
