    • A printing apparatus includes a paper cutter, a hole puncher and a guide clip which engages a strip of printed paper for conveyance to a developer. As the printer operates intermittently while the developer operates continuously, a reservoir or buffer zone is provided for the paper between the two. A mechanism for storing guide clips automatically delivers and orients a guide clip so as to engage a transported paper strip for further conveyance therewith by means of a chain conveyor or the like. As the printer may move vertically independently of the fixed developer, the conveyor is made expandible so as to accommodate differences in the conveyance distance.

    • Inlet guide structure is provided having complementary outer and inner guides which are adapted to receive film from a drive sprocket of a rolling loop film transport mechanism and to guide the film inwardly towards a path defined between the stator and the rotor of such a mechanism. The outer and inner guides have respective pairs of co-operating side faces for guiding side portions of the film remote from a centre portion of the film. The side faces of the outer guide define a rounded nose portion intermediate ends of these side faces, and the side faces of the inner guide define a depression corresponding to the nose portion so that when in use the guides combine to form a passage which guides the film by contact between the side faces and the side portions of the film. The nose portion and depression combine to cause the passing film to define a transverse curve about the nose portion, and the passage restrains the film to leave the passage at an acute angle to said path between the stator and the rotor so that an impact by the rotor will start a loop to grow and any tendency for creation of a rigidifying longitudinal bend will be significantly limited because the film is rigidified transversely by the transverse curve about said nose portion.

    • A web handling apparatus is adapted to move web material in forward and reverse directions and under varying degrees of web tension. In such apparatus, a web friction drive is actuatable to assume an operative mode for feeding web material, therefrom, in the forward direction toward a web drawing mechanism and at a rate in excess of that at which the drawing mechanism can draw the same material forward. The web friction drive normally assumes an idle mode in which the friction drive does not exert a web feeding affect on web material moving in the forward or reverse directions. A web tension sensing mechanism connects with the web friction drive, for actuating the friction drive to assume the operative mode in response to sensing a given tension in web material which is moving in the forward direction from the friction drive to the web drawing mechanism, and allows the friction drive to assume the idle mode after tension in the same material has eased or slackened. However, the web tension sensing mechanism and web friction drive remain disconnected as web material is moved in the reverse direction. In this way, the web tension sensing mechanism cannot actuate the web friction drive to assume the idle mode during movement of web material in the reverse direction.

    • A tension sensing device for motion picture projection equipment is intended for use in a platter feed system. The device is mounted upon a column of a platter system, having a pivoting arm and a stationary or limiting arm. The film is fed over a roller on the pivoting arm, which rests on a micro-switch. The presence of tension in the film feed will cause elevation of the pivot arm, triggering a signal from the micro-switch to a control box. A timing sequence is initiated; if a pre-determined time interval is reached, the power to the projector equipment is interrupted. This device allows for more precise determination of true headwrap condition, avoiding false conditions, and offers a more durable and reliable sensing device.

A tension roller mounted between pressure rollers with the film running over the tension roller, with a spring urging the pressure rollers against the film to prevent slippage of the film on the tension roller. A curved spring carried within the tension roller and engageable with a stop providing sliding friction with the tension roller. The spring is readily removable for substitution of a different spring to provide a different magnitude of tension in the device.

    • In a motion picture apparatus for perforated film including a film gate, a film claw, and means for moving the claw in-and-out and up-and-down relatively to the gate to intermittently engage the perforation of the film and to advance the film through the gate. Driving means are provided for the film and the latter forms a loose loop between the claw and the driving means. A motor is arranged to drive the driving means and the means for moving the claw. A loop restorer has an eccentric control surface, which is situated inside the loose loop formed by the film. A first toothed wheel showing a first tooth gap is connected to the eccentric control surface to drive it. The eccentric control surface is movable between a first position, in which the length of the film between the claw and the driving means has a maximum size and a second position, in which the length of the film between the claw and the driving means has a minimum size and the eccentric control surface having a rest position situated between the first position and the second position, in which rest position the control surface is out of engagement with the film in the film loop, so that a shortening film loop engaging the eccentric control surface will move it to the first position; a second constantly rotating toothed wheel, the second toothed wheel being driven by the motor in synchronism with the claw. The first tooth gap of the first toothed wheel is adjacent to the second toothed wheel, when the eccentric control surface is in the rest position. The second toothed wheel showing a second tooth gap of a range that corresponds to the part of the cycle of the claw movement, in which the claw is in engagement with the perforation of the film, whereas the second toothed wheel is toothed in a range corresponding to the part of the cycle of the claw movement, in which the claw is out of engagement with the perforation of the film.
