    • The present invention relates to an indole derivative represented by formula (1) or a salt thereof, and a pharmaceutical containing the derivative or the salt: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents lower alkyl; R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or phenyl which may be substituted by at least one lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or a halogen atom; R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, or phenylalkyloxy which may be substituted by halogen or lower alkyl; R.sup.4 represents hydrogen, lower alkyl or lower alkoxy; R.sup.5 represents hydrogen or lower alkyl; and n represents an integer of 1 to 5. This compound has the effects of both blocking .alpha..sub.1 -adrenergic receptors and inhibiting testosterone 5.alpha.-reductases, and is useful as a remedy and/or a preventive for diseases caused by dihydrotestosterone overproduction, such as prostatic hypertrophy, and diseases accompanying the same, such as urination disorder, male pattern alopecia, acne, and so forth.

    • An apparatus capable of measuring a wet paint film thickness easily and accurately in a non-contacting manner. The apparatus includes a paint film surface data acquisition unit for obtaining paint film surface data indicating a roughness of a paint film surface in a wet state, in a non-contacting manner; a paint medium data input unit for inputting paint medium data specifying a paint medium from which a paint film is formed; and a paint film thickness calculation unit for calculating the paint film thickness from the paint film surface data and the paint medium data according to a dynamic levelling property of a wet paint film. The paint film surface data include wavelength data indicating a wavelength of an unevenness on the paint film surface, and roughness data indicating one of a peak to peak amplitude of the unevenness on the paint film surface, a surface roughness of the unevenness on the paint film surface, a power spectrum integrated value in an image of the paint film surface, and a density vector in the image of the paint film surface.

    • An electronic musical instrument automatically plays a musical accompaniment utilizing a minimized number of tone signal generating channels. The electronic musical instrument has a plurality of tone signal generating channels each for generating a tone signal representative of a tone to be produced. Keys depressed on an associated keyboard are assigned to the tone signal generating channels to cause them to generate tone signals corresponding to the depressed keys. When an automatic accompaniment circuit is actuated, a predetermined number of ones of the plurality of tone signal generating channels are reserved for generation of tone signals of the accompaniment. The reservation is made such that those channels which are idle are selected at the highest priority, those channels to which the earliest released keys are assigned at the second highest priority, and those channels to which the earliest depressed keys are assigned at the third highest priority.
