    • A filter and a method for filtration is based upon moving a filter surface that is caused to move through a first filtration region (FF) for separation of a prefiltrate and through a second filtration region (KF) for separation of a clear filtrate. A vacuum is applied on the filtrate side of the filtration region (KF). The filtrate region (FF) has two filtration zones (FF1 and FF2) with mutually different pressure conditions. The filtration zone FF1 has atmospheric pressure and the filtration zone FF2 has a pressure that is lower than the pressure of FF1. The pressure change between the filtration zones (FF1 and FF2) occurs in the pre-filtrate region, i.e., before the filter surface has reached the filtrate region (KF).

    • A disc filter for dewatering cellulose fibre suspensions comprising disc-shaped filter elements (11) carried by a rotor shaft (7) in order to rotate inside a vessel (2) while being partly immersed in a suspension received in the vessel. Each filter element comprises several filter sectors (12) distributed about the rotor shaft. Loosening members (25) are provided for loosening fibre material that has been filtered out of the suspension and deposited on a filtering lining (13) of the respective filter element. Receiver chutes (30) are located in the part of the vessel where the filter sectors (12) are rotated down into the suspension from a position above the suspension. The receiver chutes receive loosened fibre material together with flushing liquid from cleaning members (26) located above the receiver chutes to thereby allow the fibre material to be diluted in the receiver chutes to a desired dry content by means of this flushing liquid.

    • A method for concentrating a suspension comprises the steps of providing a first surface; providing a second surface; introducing a suspension; moving the second surface relative to the first surface; and applying suction to the second surface. The first surface is relatively liquid-tight and includes a feature for increasing friction. The second surface is relatively liquid-pervious, faces the first surface, and is moveable relative to the first surface. Introduction of the suspension between the first and second surfaces forms a suspension web. Moving the second surface relative to the first surface and applying suction through the second surface causes dewatering of the suspension web and increased friction between the suspension web and the second surface. Also, moving the surfaces relative to each other and applying suction through the second surface causes pressing of the first surface towards the suspension web and the second surface to subject the suspension web to shear forces generated by relative movement between the feature for increasing friction and the second surface. This results in the particles of the suspension web being subjected to rolling between the first and second surface.

    • In a method for filtering a suspension through a stationary filter having a vertical filter element arranged in a pressure vessel and for re-conditioning the filter after filtering, the filtrate is discharged from the bottom of the filter element during the main part of the filtering. After filtering, unfiltered suspension is discharged in a known manner from the pressure vessel later to be returned to the suspension inlet. Thereafter, back-wash is performed with another medium other than filtrate, an outlet for material deposited on the filter element being opened for removal of said material together with the back-washing medium. Preferably, before back-wash, drying of the material deposited on the filter element takes place by means of a gas medium circulating within the filtering plant.
