    • In a touch panel, one of conductive layers on a bottom of an upper substrate and on a top of a lower substrate is formed of belt-shaped conductive layers. The other is a single conductive layer facing the belt-shaped conductive layers. The single conductive layer is provided with a pair of electrodes in positions corresponding to both ends in a direction where the belt-shaped conductive layers extend. When the upper substrate is pressed while a voltage is applied between the pair of electrodes, the top and lower conductive layers contact with each other. Then, a voltage value corresponding to the pressed position in the direction where the belt-shaped conductive layers extend is generated from any of the belt-shaped conductive layers. From the voltage value and the position of the belt-shaped conductive layer from which the voltage value is generated, a pressed position on the upper substrate can be detected.

    • A touch panel includes a light-transmittable upper substrate, a light-transmittable upper resistor layer on a lower surface of the upper substrate, a light-transmittable lower substrate, a light-transmittable lower resistor layer on an upper surface of the lower substrate, an adhesive layer on an upper surface of the upper substrate, and a light-transmittable plate on the adhesive layer. The upper substrate is made of material having oxygen and nitrogen removed therefrom. The lower resistor layer faces the upper resistor layer by a distance. The light-transmittable plate disables oxygen and nitrogen to pass through the plate substantively. Even being used in high temperatures, this touch panel does not produce an air bubble in the adhesive layer, hence allowing a user to clearly view a display device through the touch panel.

    • Disclosed here is a touch panel with improved visibility. The polarizing plate of the touch panel has a laminated structure in which the polarizing layer is sandwiched between the upper protective layer and the lower protective layer. Of the three layers, the lower protective layer is formed as a phase-difference layer with ¼ wavelength made of a cycloolefin-based polymer. The structure protects the polarizing plate from distortion and deterioration, offering good visibility. At the same time, the structure above contributes to a reduced parts count and accordingly a cost-reduced touch panel.

    • Disclosed are a compact input device that offers a wide space for input operation and portable equipment using the device. The input operation section of the input device is not only for data entry by users, but also for transmitting sound vibration. The coupling section of the device is coupled to the input operation section to form a closed cavity between the two sections. The sound vibration transmitting section, which is formed adjacent to the closed cavity, conveys sound vibration, via the closed cavity, from the input operation section to the sound vibration transmitting section (or vice versa). The portable equipment includes the aforementioned input device and a sound vibration element. In the equipment, the sound vibration element is coupled to the sound vibration transmitting section of the input device. Sound vibration is transmitted, via the closed cavity and sound vibration transmitting section of the input device, from input operation section to the vibration element (or vice versa).

    • A touch panel including a substrate body having a wave plate, a first elastic layer and a first substrate, a second substrate facing to the substrate body, a first conductive layer, a second conductive layer, a second elastic layer and a polarizing plate. A first conductive layer is formed at a face, which is a side of the second substrate, of the substrate body. A second conductive layer is formed at a face of the second substrate and faces the first conductive layer with a predetermined space therebetween. The second elastic layer is formed at a face, which is an opposite side of the first conductive layer, of the substrate body. The polarizing plate is formed at a face, which is an opposite side of the second substrate, of the second elastic layer. This structure offers a touch panel which is resistant to crack or damage to the first conductive layer that may occur when an end of the touch panel is pressed, and provides reliable operation and good viewability.

    • According to the input device of the present invention, phase-difference plate (11) with ¼ wavelength is disposed on the top surface of upper substrate (1) of touch panel (12). As a result of passing through phase-difference plate (11), lamplight 9a that illuminates LCD element (8) goes outside as outgoing-light 9c with a phase-shift of ¼ wavelength. With the structure above, a user wearing polarized sunglasses—even if they have an absorption axis in a direction the same as that of lamplight 9a—can easily recognize the displays shown by LCD element (8) on the back surface of touch panel (12). The structure offers a user-friendly input device with good visibility of LCD element (8).
