    • An expansion device includes a box-like device body and a second battery pack. The body includes a hard disc drive therein, a fitting recess open to the outer surface of the body, power-receiving terminals provided in the fitting recess and connected to the hard disc drive, and a second connector adapted to be connected to a first connector of a personal computer. The second battery pack is designed to be removably mounted in a battery mount portion, in place of a battery pack of the computer, and includes a coupling portion removably fitted in the fitting portion, and first and second power-supply terminals. When the second battery pack is mounted in the mount portion while the coupling portion is fitted in the fitting recess, the device body is coupled to the computer in a state where the second connector is connected to the first connector and the first and second power-supply terminals contact power-receiving terminals of the computer and the power-receiving terminals of the device body.

    • A portable apparatus comprises a housing including a pack receptacle having an insertion port. The pack receptacle has a first connector facing to the insertion port. A circuit board is contained in the housing. The circuit board is positioned between the pack receptacle and a bottom wall of the housing. The pack receptacle contains a pack device to be detachable through the insertion port. The pack device has a second connector to be detachably connected to the first connector. The pack receptacle has an ejector for ejecting the pack device. The ejector has a pressing member for pressing the pack device in a direction away from the first connector and an operation member, positioned at the upper portion of the circuit board to be linked with the pressing member. The operation member has a lever section along the peripheral wall of the housing. The operation member is supported by the housing to be slidable between a first position where the lever section is stored in the housing and a second position where the lever section is projected to the outside of the housing. The operation member is supported by said housing to be rotatable between an ejecting position where the pressing member is advanced to the pack device contained in the pack receptacle at the second position and a releasing position where the pressing member is separated away from the pack device.

    • A portable apparatus comprises a housing having an opening portion, a pack receptacle formed in the housing, and a battery pack detachably contained in the pack receptacle through the opening portion. The pack receptacle has a slider for maintaining the battery pack at the pack receptacle. The slider is movable between a lock position and a lock releasing position, and maintained at the lock position through a spring. The slider has an insertion port, an engaging portion, a first cam portion, and a second cam portion. The insertion port is formed such that a convex portion of the battery pack is detachably inserted therethrough to be continuous to the opening portion. The engaging portion is formed to be engaged with the convex portion when the slider is moved to the lock position. The first cam portion connects the engaging portion to the insertion port, and slidably comes in contact with the convex portion when said slider is moved to the lock releasing position from the lock position, thereby pressing the convex portion to the insertion port thereby partially lifting the battery pack form the pack receptacle. The second cam portion is formed at a portion continuous to the insertion port, and the second cam portion slidably comes in contact with the convex portion when the pack device is inserted to the pack receptacle, thereby moving the slider to the lock releasing position from the lock position.
