    • A metal vessel has a metal bottomed cup-shaped lower member and a metal cup-shaped upper member, the upper and lower members being bonded together by a circumferential side seam. The upper member has a pouring mouth having a small diameter in the central portion thereof. The metal vessel is formed by lap-bonding the circumferential open ends of both the upper and lower members. The side wall of the upper member is formed by subjecting a primer-coated tin-plated steel sheet to draw forming at a side wall plastic forming ratio R of from 1.1 to 1.8; the side wall plastic forming ratio R being defined by the following formula: ##EQU1## wherein W stands for the weight (g) of the blank of the upper member, t stands for the thickness (cm) of the blank of the upper member at the side wall, .rho. stands for the density (g/cm.sup.3) of the blank of the upper member, D.sub.0 stands for the inner diameter (cm) of pouring mouth of the upper member, and D.sub.1 stands for the average inner diameter (cm) of the side wall.In the circumferential bonded portion, the side wall of the lower member is bonded to the side wall of the upper member through an organic adhesive interposed between a primer coating applied to the side wall of the lower member and a primer coating applied to the side wall of the upper member. The bonding strength and resistance to leakage of the lap-bonded circumferential side seam are improved.

    • Disclosed is a metal vessel comprising an upper member and a lower member, each consisting of a coated cup-shaped formed metal body and a circumferential side seam being formed by lap-bonding the open ends of the upper and lower members to each other through an adhesive, wherein said coated cup-shaped formed metal body is composed of a metal blank having a coating of a vinyl chloride resin having a vinyl chloride unit content of 30 to 97% by weight and a glass transition temperature of at least 40.degree. C. and containing carboxyl groups and/or hydroxyl groups at a concentration of 10 to 500 millimoles/100 g of the resin, said adhesive is an adhesive composed mainly of a copolyester containing in the main chain at least 50 mole %, based on the total acid component, of terephthalic acid, at least 50 mole %, based on the total alcohol component, of 1,4-butane-diol and at least 1 mole % of at least one member selected from other acids and other alcohols, and the upper and lower members are bonded to each other through said vinyl chloride resin coating and said copolyester type adhesive.

    • Disclosed is a hot-melt adhesive which comprises a copolyester of a dibasic acid component comprising 70 to 97 mole % of terephthalic acid and other dibasic acid with a polyhydric alcohol component comprising 70 to 97 mole % of 1,4-butane-diol, 3 to 30 mole % of diethylene glycol and up to 20 mole % of other polyhydric alcohol having 2 to 5 carbon atoms, said copolyester having a reduced viscosity of at least 0.6 dl/g as measured at a temperature of 30.degree. C. in a phenol/tetrachloroethane mixed solvent having a phenol/tetrachloroethane weight ratio of 60/40 at a polymer concentration of 0.25 g/100 ml, a glass transition temperature of at least 31.degree. C. and a crystallinity of 15 to 40 %.This hot-melt adhesive is excellent in the operation adaptability, and in the form of a film, the adhesive has an appropriate rigidity and a good dimension stability. Furthermore, when this hot-melt adhesive is formed into an adhesive layer between seams by hot bonding, the adhesive layer provides a high creep resistance and a good dimension stability. This hot-melt adhesive is valuably used for producing a metal vessel having a circumferential side seam by bonding cup-shaped lower and upper members along circumferential open ends of the two members.
