    • A safety ski binding having a sole plate which is pivotally supported on a ski-fixed pivot pin in a horizontal plane, however, is secured against lifting off from the ski. The sole plate has a front jaw at its front end and a heel holder provided with a housing at its rear end. The heel holder has a sole holder which is pivotal upwardly about a transversely extending axle on the housing against the force of a pressure spring. The heel holder also carries a roller which is loaded by at least one further pressure spring on a control lever, with which roller is associated a cam surface arranged on a ski-fixed member. The pressure springs for controlling the vertical release and the ones for controlling the lateral release can thereby either be arranged among one another or nested into one another.

    • An adjusting device having a carriage supporting a binding part, and a base plate supported on the ski and serves to guide the carriage for movement relative to the ski, whereby one of the carriage and the base plate is equipped with serrations which extend in a longitudinal direction of a ski, with which is associated a locking member which is guided on the other of the carriage and the base plate for movement transversely with respect to the longitudinal direction of the ski and has locking teeth thereon. In order to create in this adjusting device a positive locking of the teeth of the locking member with respect to the serrations, the invention provides that one end of an intermediate member be hinged to a locking member or to a swivel part which is hingedly connected to the locking member. The intermediate member is pivotal between first and second positions located on opposite side of a dead-center position thereof. The other end of the intermediate member is hingedly supported on the carriage which carries the locking member and which, in the locked condition of the adjusting device, is provided in a second position on an opposite side of a dead-center position from said first position.

    • A safety ski binding mounted on a member movable with respect to the ski but fixedly secured thereto. A release of the ski boot from engagement with the ski binding is initiated by forces applied to the heel holder. The heel holder is movable about both a vertical axis and a horizontal axis so that it is responsive to not only vertical and horizontal applied forces by the ski boot but also diagonally applied forces. A connecting lever-like element is movably secured to the housing for the heel holder and has one end thereof connected to a piston reciprocally movable in an open-sided cylinder on the housing. Thus, a reciprocal movement of the piston will initiate a pivotal movement of the connecting element. The other end of the connecting element is pivotally attached to a lock so that the lock is movable in response to a pivotal movement of the connecting element. The lock has a protuberance which projects over a lip on the heel holder to hold the heel holder in the boot holding position. Thus, a pivotal movement of connecting element in response to release forces applied by the ski boot to the binding will effect an unlocking of the heel holder and a release of the ski boot.

In the anti-crossing device for skis, the resilient projection member will prevent movement of a ski to the crossed position in one direction while simultaneously permitting movement of the ski in the opposite direction by flexing the resilient projection downwardly onto the upper surface of the ski. In the ski brake environment, the ski boot effects a resilient flexing of the projection member down onto the upper surface of the ski when the ski boot is mounted between the ski bindings. The resilient projection member has extension members which project below the lower surface of the ski when the resilient projection member is in the upright position.
