摘要： This specification teaches a basic method of obtaining on a continuous basis an instantaneous indication of the air to fuel ratio of an air/fuel mixture being fed to a combustion process. The process may take place in an internal combustion engine or, for example, in a power plant. Modifications of the method are taught to obtain such information as the hydrogen to carbon ratio of the fuel being burned in the combustion process, the oxygen equivalence of the air/fuel mixture being burned, the air mass flow through the combustion process, the fuel mass flow through the combustion process, instantaneous fuel economy of a vehicle in which a combustion process is being carried out to propel the vehicle, and the oxygen concentration in the exhaust gases from the combustion process.

摘要： The present invention is generally directed to the production of low-carbon syngas from captured CO2 and renewable H2. The H2 is generated from water using an electrolyzer powered by renewable electricity, or from any other method of low-carbon H2 production. The improved catalysts use low-cost metals, they can be produced economically in commercial quantities, and they are chemically and physically stable up to 2,100° F. CO2 conversion is between 80% and 100% with CO selectivity of greater than 99%. The catalysts don't sinter or form coke when converting H2:CO2 mixtures to syngas in the operating ranges of 1,300-1,800° F., pressures of 75-450 psi, and space velocities of 2,000-100,000 hr−1. The catalysts are stable, exhibiting between 0 and 1% CO2 conversion decline per 1,000 hrs. The syngas can be used for the synthesis of low-carbon fuels and chemicals, or for the production of purified H2. The H2 can be used at the production site for the synthesis of low-carbon chemical products or compressed for transportation use.

摘要： A unique process and catalyst is described that operates efficiently at low pressures for the direct production of a high cetane diesel type fuel or diesel type blending stock from stoichiometric mixtures of hydrogen and carbon monoxide. This invention allows for, but is not limited to, the economical and efficient production high quality diesel type fuels from small or distributed fuel production plants that have an annual production capacity of less than 100 million gallons per year by eliminating traditional hydrocracking and other costly upgrading processes. This catalytic process is ideal for distributed diesel fuel production plants such as biomass to fuel production plants and stranded natural gas to diesel fuel production plants, and other applications that require optimized economics based on supporting distributed feedstock resources.

摘要： A method and an apparatus for simultaneously measuring each constituent film in a multi-layer coating. Near Infrared Reflectance (NIR) measurements are taken at the peak and reference wavelength for a series of calibration samples. Based on these measurements, a relationship is established between the film NIR and thickness. A measuring NIR spectrometer is supplied with the relationship and a target sample is irradiated with near infrared radiation at each peak and reference wavelength. The measuring spectrometer measures the amount of NIR and computes the individual film thicknesses using the relationship supplied to it. Individual film thicknesses can be visually displayed, and/or directed to the film applying apparatus. If the thickness of an individual film layer deviates from a predetermined valve, the film applying apparatus is manipulated to apply the desired thickness of film.

摘要： The present invention provides a blended fuel and methods for producing the blended fuel, wherein a low carbon fuel derived from a renewable resource such as biomass, is blended with a traditional, petroleum derived fuel. A blended fuel which includes greater than 10% by volume of low carbon fuel has an overall improved lifecycle greenhouse gas content of about 5% or more compared to the petroleum derived fuel. Also, blending of the low carbon fuel to the traditional, petroleum fuel improves various engine performance characteristics of the traditional fuel.

摘要： A system and apparatus is provided that maximizes mass and energy conversion efficiencies in an integrated thermochemical process for the conversion of fossil fuel or renewable biomass to synthesis gas. The system combines gasification, catalytic conversion of gas to liquid, electricity generation, steam and chilled water generation with a system controller to maximize the conversion efficiency from syngas to merchantable products over the efficiency of syngas alone burned as a fuel. A clean synthesis gas stream is introduced into a catalytic reactor that utilizes specially formulated catalysts to generate liquid fuel from CO and H2 while concentrating CH4 and other combustible, but non-reactive gases in the syngas product stream. The methane rich stream is introduced into an engine for the production of electricity and heat while the unreacted CO and H2 can be recycled to produce additional liquid fuel. Excess heat can be used for other co-located processes and facilities.

摘要： A catalytic process selectively produces ethanol by contacting synthesis gas (syngas), composed primarily of hydrogen and carbon monoxide, with three catalysts within a reactor. The first catalyst is a hydrogenation promoter comprising Cu—Zn, Mo or Fe with an optional alkali metal additive and an optional support of aluminum oxide, silica, zeolite or clay. The second catalyst is a homologation promoter comprising one or more of the Group VIII metals in free or combined form with a co-catalyst metals consisting of Y or lanthanide or actinide series metals with optional additives and support. The third catalyst is a hydrogenation promoter. This series of catalysts improves the selectivity and yield for ethanol from syngas.
