    • A dispensing system is provided for being sealingly disposed with respect to, and dispensing a product from, a discharge opening of a container wherein an annular mounting flange extends radially inwardly adjacent the opening. The valve is molded from a material to define a flexible, resilient structure having a head portion and a surrounding marginal portion. The head portion has a normally closed dispensing orifice which opens when the pressure in the interior of the container exceeds the pressure on the exterior of the valve by a predetermined amount. The marginal portion is connected with the head portion and has a generally annular wall defining a generally annular groove which is open radially outwardly for receiving the mounting flange. The annular wall is sufficiently flexible to elastically deform as the wall is forced against the mounting flange to accommodate sealing of the mounting flange in the groove. The annular wall is sufficiently resilient to accommodate the retention of the mounting flange in the groove by adjacent portions of the annular wall.

    • A dispensing system is provided for dispensing liquid from a container. The system includes a discharge conduit defining a flow passage for establishing fluid communication with liquid from the container. A resilient valve is provided to extend across the discharge flow passage. The valve has an interior side for being contacted by the liquid and an exterior side exposed to ambient external atmosphere. The valve defines a dispensing orifice that opens when pressure on the valve interior side exceeds the pressure on the exterior side by a predetermined amount. A resilient baffle is located upstream of the valve. The baffle includes an occlusion member supported by at least one resilient support member which (1) accommodates movement of the occlusion member between a closed position occluding flow into at least a portion of the conduit flow passage when the baffle is subjected to an upstream hydraulic hammer pressure, and (2) biases the occlusion member to an open position permitting flow into the conduit flow passage adjacent the valve when the baffle is not subjected to a hydraulic hammer pressure.

    • A dispensing valve is mounted in a dispensing aperture of a closure that has (1) a deck around the aperture, and (2) a hinged lid for closing over the aperture. The valve includes a marginal portion, a head portion with a discharge orifice therein, and a resilient, connector sleeve extending between the marginal portion to the head portion. The connector sleeve has a generally U-shaped cross-section that defines a first leg that is connected with the marginal portion and a shorter second leg connected with the head portion. The connector sleeve locates the head portion below the closed lid. An arcuate junction portion of the connector sleeve joins the first and second legs. The arcuate junction portion projects from the deck aperture when the lid is open. When the lid is closed, the arcuate junction portion is engaged and elastically deformed by the lid, and that prevents the valve orifice from opening.

    • A dispensing system is provided and can be embodied in a dispensing closure for a container having an opening. The system includes a unitary, resiliently flexible, molded valve array structure for being sealingly disposed on the container over the container opening. The valve array structure includes an impervious membrane. The valve array structure also includes a plurality of resiliently flexible, slit valves molded unitary with the membrane. Each valve has a normally closed dispensing orifice which opens when the pressure in the interior of the container exceeds the pressure on the exterior of the valve by a predetermined amount. The valves can be arranged to discharge parallel streams, diverging streams, or converging streams.
