    • Improved triglyceride compositions, bearing both omega-3-usaturated fatty acids and short chain fatty acids, are prepared according to the formulae: wherein, each R, independently, is a fatty acid residue, either saturated or unsaturated, having between 2 and 40 carbons; each R′, independently, is a long chain omega-3-unsaturated fatty acid residue having between 16 and 40 carbons, preferably 18 to 22 carbons; and each R″, independently, is a short chain acid residue having 2 to 5 carbons, preferably 2 to 4 carbons, most preferably 2 to 3 carbons. Also described is a regimen for treating a medical problem associated with less than healthy stomach tissue that is responsive to treatment with a triglyceride mixture as defined above, in amounts and at intervals effective to therapeutically improve the health of the stomach tissue. In another aspect the compositions are used in a regime for treating skin to increase skin cell turnover, to provide nourishment to epithelial cells and reduce inflammation. The regime comprises topically administering to a mammal a triglyceride mixture as defined above, in amounts and at intervals effective for these purposes.

    • A boat that has a central hull, a pair of floats, and a pair of outrigger spars for supporting the floats on each side of the hull. The outrigger spars are adjustably mounted on the hull so that the floats can be adjustably placed in a given range of positions that lie both (i) substantially spaced away outboard of the side beam of the central hull as well as (ii) substantially spaced rearward of the stern of the central hull. The floats are much smaller than the central hull, partly so that the central hull can be formed with storage recesses in the side-boards thereof for removably storing the floats in a stored position during non-use of the floats. The outrigger spars are preferably mounted to the central hull at or near the opposite rear corners thereof. Also, the outrigger spars are preferably mounted to the central hull for pivotal movement in generally horizontal planes. The boat further includes a set of locking mechanisms between the spars and the central hull, for releasably locking the spars in set positions. Additionally, the spars can be locked in position independently of each other and therefore need not be set in symmetric angles of divergence from the central hull.

    • A cookie product is prepared having a liposome-encapsulated component dispersed therein and leavened to a crumb-like structure. The liposomes substantially retain their structural integrity during the processing, mixing, and post extrusion baking and thus remain intact in the finished cookie. The liposomes may encapsulate flavorings, fragrances, preservatives, anti-staling agents, and other labile food additives. The liposomes may provide a sustained release of the encapsulant to the cookie during storage and prior to consumption. The encapsulant may be released when the cookie is baked or eaten by the consumer. The cookies are prepared by feeding the cookie ingredients to a blending zone of a cooker-extruder and heated to form a heat treated mass. A liposome-encapsulated component is added to the cooled heat treated mass and mixed at low pressure and temperature to prevent rupture of the liposomes. An optional source of water may also be admixed to form a dough-like mixture. The dough-like mixture is then extruded into shaped cookie pieces, and leavened by heating in an oven. The heat treating of the dough-like mixture in the cooker-extruder reduces the post extrusion baking time such that liposomes prepared from phospholipids having a high phase transition temperature substantially retain their structure integrity in the leavened cookie.
