A magnetically conductive ring (242) is mounted on the opposite axial side of the friction disc (28) than the surface (34) engaged by a friction ring (86, 252) which is rotatably fixed but axially displaceable relative to the housing (62). In the embodiments shown, the friction ring (86, 252) is biased in a disengaged condition from the friction disc (28) by springs (138, 256) and is moved to an engaged condition by a fluid actuated piston (80). In one of the preferred forms, the friction ring (252) includes peripheral gear teeth (256) in slideable gearing relation with gear teeth (250) formed in the housing (62) and is formed of fiber brake material to act as a dampener between the friction disc (28) and the housing (62) to absorb torsional vibration. Thus, the housing (62) and the fan blades mounted thereto are driven with the friction disc (28) in its engaged condition and are driven at a rotational speed less than the speed of the friction disc (28) in its disengaged condition by the eddy current drive (224) and without separate controls for the eddy current drive (224).

    • A fan clutch (A') includes an eddy current drive (224) having a first, magnetic field producing drive component rotatable with the output and a second, coupling drive component rotatable with the input in the form of a sheave (50'). The first drive component includes permanent magnets (226). The second drive component is of a one-piece construction including a steel ring (238) embedded in a body portion (241) formed of aluminum. The steel ring (238) includes locating ears (310) for properly locating and retaining the ring (238) in a mold half (324). Positioning tabs (312, 314) extend from the faces (302, 304) of the ring (238) and prevent the ring (238) from floating in the volume between the mold halves (318, 324) which forms the body portion (241) during the introduction of the molten aluminum. The body portion (241) is integrally formed with circumferentially spaced air moving vanes (264) and an annular disc portion (260) for mounting to the sheave (50').

    • The present invention relates to the discovery of particular water-based emulsion formulations that comprise an environmentally acceptable integrated floor care maintenance system. In particular, the present invention provides a low zinc, low phosphate, acrylic-based, integrated floor care maintenance system that includes a low zinc acrylic floor finish having a zinc content of less than 100 ppm and a phosphate content measured as percent phosphorus of less than 0.4% by weight and a floor finish stripper having no added zinc, no added phosphate and containing from about 0.01 to 5% by weight of an ammonium perfluoroalkylsulfonate wetting and emulsifying agent, such as CAS number 67906-42-7, CAS number 17202-41-4 or a mixture of these. Additionally, this invention provides for a low zinc acrylate floor sealer having a zinc content of less than 100 ppm and a phosphate content measured as percent phosphorus of less than 0.4% by weight, a buffing composition having a zinc content of less than 100 ppm and no added phosphate, and a floor cleaner having no added zinc or phosphate.
