    • A thermoelectric module includes plural thermoelectric semiconductor chips connected in series, first and second substrates, plural first and second electrodes formed on the first and second substrates, first solder through which the first and second electrodes are bonded to end portions of the thermoelectric semiconductor chips. The first substrate includes two or more protrusions protruding toward opposite sides with respect to the second substrate when being viewed vertically. A method of assembling a thermoelectric module in a radiating member includes the steps of mounting the first substrate on a radiating member through the second solder having a liquidus temperature lower than a solidus temperature of the first solder; holding the protrusions by leading edges of support arms where the second solder is melted to push the first substrate toward the radiating member under pressure while rocking the first substrate in a direction orthogonal to the pushing direction.

    • A cooling systems controller for internal combustion engines having two circuits of cooling water for cylinder head side and cylinder block side, each of two circuits being provided with a radiator, a water jacket, a water pump, a conduit, a return passageway, a bypass passageway, a mixing valve, and a motor fan; two heater circuits being provided so as to branch from and return to said main two cooling water circuits, said heater circuits being provided with a first selector valve to junction them and a second selector valve to separate them, said selector valve having a function to supply the higher temperature water from either of two water circuits to a heater radiator by the signals from a control unit for judging which temperature of two circuits is higher, thereby making it possible to obtain more rapid heating effect at the time immediately after starting up the engine without reducing the heating efficiency during normal runs of vehicle.

    • An engine cooling system for an automotive vehicle has a cross-flow fan driven by a motor coupled thereto for producing an air flow through a radiator disposed in front of the cross-flow fan. The cross-flow fan is housed in a casing assembly composed of an upper casing, a lower casing, and a pair of lateral casings for guiding the air flow through the cross-flow fan. The upper casing has a curved portion covering a portion of the cross-flow fan for preventing an air flow from counteracting rotation of the fan. Means may be provided for retractably covering the portion of the fan to prevent the counteracting air flow only when the automotive vehicle runs at a certain speed or higher. Such means comprises a triangular portion of the upper casing hinged for angular movement between a fan covering position and a position to define an additional air flow passage. Alternatively, the means comprises a coiled resilient member having one end retractably extending through the upper casing in the vicinity of the fan. According to other embodiments, a plurality of vertically spaced cross-flow fans are housed respectively by a plurality of vertically arranged casing assemblies.
