    • A vehicle navigation apparatus comprises a control unit for computing an optimum travel route between a departure point and a destination of a vehicle to calculate similarity values each indicating degree of similarity between the pattern of the travel locus of the vehicle and the pattern of each of the travel roads included in a road map. The vehicle navigation apparatus further comprises a control unit for selecting, from the road map, candidate travel roads each having a road pattern having a similarity value exceeding a predetermined similarity level. The candidate travel roads includes a present travel road on which the vehicle is currently traveling. The control unit determines as to whether or not one of the candidate travel roads overlaps with the optimum travel route. A display or a loudspeaker informs to a vehicle driver that the vehicle comes to travel on the optimum travel route when it comes to be determined that one of the candidate travel roads overlaps with the optimum travel route, and informs to the vehicle driver that the vehicle comes to stray from the optimum travel route when it comes to be determined that no candidate travel road overlaps with the optimum travel route. The vehicle navigation apparatus thus constructed can flexibly determine whether the vehicle strays from the optimum travel route, thereby making it possible to prevent the vehicle driver from being perplexed by wrong information.

    • Embodiments of the invention position accurately an actuator head suspension assembly (AHSA) relative to a magnetic disk without using any positioning jig, as achieved through a simple structure and involving no increase in manufacturing, and to prevent the AHSA from being charge. In one embodiment, a conductive AHSA includes a pivot opening formed to provide a step at an adjoining portion of two holes having different hole diameters from each other. A pivot bearing assembly includes a first conductive roller bearing and a second conductive roller bearing. The first and the second roller bearings include outer races and inner races with balls interposed between the outer races and the inner races. The first and the second roller bearings are disposed in tandem to achieve the following arrangements. Specifically, the outer race of the second roller bearing fits into a hole having a larger hole diameter in the pivot opening, while the outer race of the first roller bearing fits into hole having a smaller hole diameter in the pivot opening. There is interposed a conductive spacer between the first and the second roller bearings. The spacer abuts on the step in the pivot opening. A conductive pivot shaft is inserted in each of the inner races of the first and the second roller bearings disposed in tandem in the pivot opening.

    • Embodiments of the invention establish electric continuity across an actuator head suspension assembly and a pivot bearing assembly without involving an increased manufacturing cost through a simple structure. In one embodiment, a carriage made of a plastic resin is provided with a pivot opening. A pivot bearing assembly is inserted into the pivot opening. The pivot opening includes a step formed by holes having different hole diameters from each other at an adjoining portion thereof. Two actuator arms are secured to the carriage through insert molding to support an HDA. One of the two actuator arms is provided with a hole functioning as a pivot opening and having a smaller hole diameter so as to form the step. The other of the two actuator arms is provided with a hole functioning as a pivot opening and having a larger hole diameter. The hole having the larger hole diameter includes protruded portions that abut against the pivot bearing assembly with no clearance therebetween. The hole also includes recessed portions disposed between each adjoining pair of the protruded portions and having a clearance from the pivot bearing assembly.
