    • A method for producing cast pieces from a synthetic material comprises the steps of preplasticizing the synthetic material while the plasticizing cylinder is in communication with the mold cavity, relaxing the preplasticized material to remove the pressure thereon by a limited relative movement between a plasticizing cylinder and a screw conveyer, lifting the plasticizing cylinder away from the mold cavity and out of communication therewith, removing the previously cast piece from the mold cavity, and injecting the material in the plasticizing cylinder through the always open nozzle and into the mold cavity by a stroke of a screw conveyer toward the mold cavity. The apparatus for carrying out this method includes a plasticizing cylinder having a screw conveyer arranged therein. The cylinder and conveyer are mounted for movement relative to one another along the injection axis. Means including a guide member and an abutment are provided for permitting a limited relative movement between the cylinder and screw conveyer.

    • A hydraulic drive system for the mold closing unit of an injection molding or die casting machine in which drive cylinders are provided in circuit with a pump system which alternatingly provides pressure levels in at least a low pressure range and a high pressure range for the closing unit. In one embodiment, the pump system effects a closing stroke and an opening stroke of the mold by applying a pressure in the low pressure range, and retains the closed state of the mold by applying a pressure in the high pressure range. A slide valve and a pressure setting valve are connected in circuit with the drive cylinders and the pump, with the pressure setting valve opening at a preselected limit pressure which is lower than the lower pressure range, while the slide valve is maintained in an open position during the latter portion of the closing stroke of the mold. In another embodiment, the pump system effects a closing stroke and an opening stroke of the mold by applying a pressure in the low pressure range, and retains the closed state of the mold by applying a pressure in the high pressure range with the pressure setting valve opening at a preselected limit pressure which lies slightly above the pressure ranges.

    • An injection unit for an injection molding machine in which selective ones of the hydraulic drive cylinders of the unit are provided with sleeve members on which the piston assemblies of those drive cylinders are mounted.     • An injection mold for an injection molding machine for manufacturing two-component plastic objects. The mold includes a movable mold half having a core supporting profile plate, and a stationary mold half having a cavity plate and a transporting member. The profile plate has at least two diametrically disposed mold cores and the cavity plate has an equal number of diametrically disposed cavities. The shape of one-half of the mold cavities formed by the cores and cavities corresponds to the shape of part of the two-component object, and the shape of the other half of the mold cavities formed corresponds to the whole of the two-component object. The transporting member is pivotally mounted in the mold on an axis which is parallel to the opening direction of the mold and effects the transporting of the partly formed two-component object from its respective mold cavity into a mold cavity which forms the whole of the two-component object after the mold has been opened. The transporting member is configured as a plate separate from the profile plate and the cavity plate and is movable in the opening direction of the mold relative to the stationary mold half and to the movable mold half.
