    • A relatively high speed packaging machine of the type in which a heated film is formed by application of pressure to provide an enclosure for encapsulation of articles on a substrate utilizes a conveyor, a heater and film transport means disposed above the conveyor. Pressure forming means and cutting means are movably supported on the frame for reciprocal movement along the frame and for movement vertically relative to the conveyor to effect forming of the film and cutting of the film into units. Drive means simultaneously drives the conveyor and film transport means as well as the pressure forming means and cutting means in movement towards the exit end of the conveyor. The drive means also returns the pressure forming means and cutting means and moves them in a vertical path relative to the conveyor. Control means operates the drive means to effect the times operation thereof while the conveyor moves continuously.

    • A trunnion seal assembly for joining a stationary inlet/outlet box of a ball tube mill to a rotational interior of the ball tube mill includes an outer ring component configured to be mounted to an outer wall of the stationary inlet/outlet box. A flexible pad seal is configured to be joined to the outer wall of the stationary inlet/outlet box proximate outer ring component. The pad seal includes a first annular sealing surface. A mill head extension ring configured to be joined to a rotational mill head is located proximate to and substantially concentric with the inner ring component. The mill head extension includes a second annular sealing surface sealingly engaged with the first annular sealing surface of the flexible pad seal.

    • A head section for a rotary cutting device includes a body portion that includes a blade passage defined between a blade entrance opening and a blade exit opening. A blade fastening mechanism is positioned in the blade passage and includes a blade engaging member. The blade engaging member is biased by a biasing mechanism to extend across the blade passage at a blade install position. The blade engaging member is movable against the bias to clear the blade passage. A blade having a mount aperture proximate an insertion end thereof is secured to the body portion when the mount aperture occupies the blade mount position and the blade engaging member extends through the mount aperture. The blade can be installed in and removed from the head section without tools, simply by advancing the blade through the blade passage.

    • An improved reed relay having a bobbin, an operating coil wound around the bobbin and at least one reed switch contained within the bobbin. The reed switch has a hermetically-sealed glass capsule that contains an atmosphere of dry inert gas. The capsule also contains two long thin contact blades having terminations extending from respective ends of the capsule. A first contact blade acting as the armature is formed at its contact end with multiple prongs, each prong containing a contact pad. The second contact blade acts as the fixed contact. The contact pads surround the contact end of the second blade so as to contact, during operation of the relay, a different surface area of the second blade. The prongs may be formed in any desired geometric arrangement (e.g., rectangular, triangular, etc.) to surround the contact end of the second contact blade.

    • A method of establishing a contact arrangement for a reed switch. The method increases the number of contact surfaces between the armature and the fixed contact by providing the fixed contact with a contact end that has multiple prongs and positions the armature and the fixed contact so that the prongs surround the armature. The method also adjusts the armature and the fixed contact so that there are prongs that contact the armature when the armature moves from the rest position during switch operation and prongs that provide additional multi-planar contact surfaces for the armature in the event that the armature and the fixed contact prematurely separate during switch operation.
