摘要： This invention is directed to a method, a rubber skim stock and a product containing the skim stock having improved adhesion between a metal member and contiguous rubber skim stock. The invention lies in the discovery that improved rubber-to-metal adhesion can be obtained by adding to an otherwise conventional rubber skim stock composition appropriate amounts of a tetracarboxylic dianhydride.The method of this invention comprises the steps of mixing a tetracarboxylic dianhydride into a rubber composition, bringing this composition into contiguous relationship with a metal member in an unvulcanized product and vulcanizing the product to yield the end product.

摘要： Rubber compositions and articles such as tires having improved metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention to brass and brass-plated metallic reinforcement. The improvement comprises admixing from about 0.2 to about 6.0 parts per hundred rubber (phr) of a compound selected from the group consisting of 3-amino-2-carboxy-4-chlorobenzophenone, 3-hydroxy-2-methyldiphenylamine and 5-amino-2-methyl-N-phenylbenzensulfonamide and mixtures thereof with a vulcanizable rubber composition prior to embedding the metallic reinforcement therein and curing. A method for improving the metal adhesion and metal adhesion retention between a vulcanizable rubber and brass or brass-plated metallic reinforcement includes the step of dispersing from about 0.2 to about 6.0 phr of a compound selected from the group consisting of 3-amino-2-carboxy-4-chlorobenzophenone, 3-hydroxy-2-methyldiphenylamine and 5-amino-2-methyl-N-phenylbenzenesulfonamide and mixtures thereof in a vulcanizable rubber composition prior to curing.

摘要： This invention is directed to a rubber skim stock and a product containing the skim stock having improved adhesion between a brassed metal member and contiguous rubber skim stock. The invention lies in the discovery that improved rubber-to-metal adhesion, and adhesion retention, can be obtained by adding to an otherwise conventional rubber skim stock composition appropriate amounts of sulfides of copper.In the practice of this invention, a sulfide of copper is mixed into a rubber skim stock composition, which composition is brought into contiguous relationship with a brassed metal member in the unvulcanized composition followed by vulcanization to yield the end product.

摘要： Sidewalls (12,13) for pneumatic tires (10) having a greater stiffness improve handling and performance of the tire. The sidewalls comprise a rubber, selected from the group consisting of natural rubber, synthetic rubber and blends thereof, and from about 20 to 80 parts of a rubber compatible additive, per 100 parts of rubber capable of imparting a tensile modulus of from about 30 to 200 MPa at 10 percent elongation. Pneumatic tires provided with such sidewalls are improved and exhibit higher cornering force coefficients. A method for improving the handling characteristics of pneumatic tires includes the step of applying sidewalls to the tire carcass during building, having a tensile modulus of from about 30 to 200 MPa at 10 percent elongation.

摘要： There is provided a modified polyurethane elastomer composition characterized by the presence therein of a substantial proportion in the range of from 5% to 35% by weight of the urethane of a nonfunctional hydrocarbon rubber, together with a curing agent for the urethane and a separate and distinct curing agent for the hydrocarbon rubber. Principal purposes of the present invention include the production of high strength castable elastomers which are nonmelting under conditions of high shear.
