    • A twin feed ammunition conveyor for feeding shells to an automatic weapon from either of two strips of shackled shells comprises a structure having a longitudinal plane of symmetry. The structure includes an extraction station which receives the strips of shells on respective sides of the plane of symmetry, and in which the shells of each strip are separated from their shackles by a forward displacement into a respective standby location in a distribution station having a central introduction location from which the shells are fed to a shell chamber of the weapon. Means for conveying a shell from the standby locations to the central introduction location comprise two selectively driven rotors each having a pair of axially spaced star wheels operative to engage a shell in the respective standby location and to move it towards the introduction location. Radially slidable pushers on the rotor are guided by cam means to push the shell positively into the introduction location where it is held by a pair of cooperating pushers, one on each rotor, the motion of the rotor effecting the transfer being locked by a pawl upon the arrival of the shell in the introduction location.

    • In the fuse body are mounted an upstream percussion element sensitive to impact and a tilting rotor arranged between said percussion element and a downstream element of the pyrotechnic chain of the fuse. In the tilting rotor a housing is formed traversing it from side to side and shielding a pyrotechnic charge intended to ensure the ignition of said downstream element. The tilting rotor is held temporarily, until the departure of the shot, by a locking device releasable by the action of the field of force generated by this departure, in an angular resting position for said housing is disaligned with respect to said upstream percussion element and to said downstream element of the pyrotechnic chain of the fuse. The tilting rotor, including the pyrotechnic charge that it carries, is arranged so as to have no imbalance. The pyrotechnic charge is entirely symmetrical with respect to the middle transverse plane of the housing. The rotor is arranged so as to have a principal axis of inertia, and the resting position of the rotor is such that its principal axis of inertia forms in resting position an angle of 90* with the axis of the fuse, said resting position being then a position of unstable equilibrium from which, on gyration of the fuse, the rotor seeks to reach its active position through an angular travel of 90*, in one direction or the other, by reason of the appearance of a restoring torque tending, in the field of centrifugal forces and as soon as the rotor is separated however little it may be from its resting position in unstable equilibrium, to merge, that is to say to align, the principal axis of inertia (XX) of the rotor and the axis of gyration (YY) of the fuse, the pyrotechnic charge housed in said rotor then being aligned with the upstream percussion element and the downstream element of the pyrotechnic chain of the fuse.

    • The actuating part of the breech mechanism comprises at least one longitudinal housing open towards the front and laterally towards the inside and towards the outside of the weapon, in which is mounted on actuating slider free to be displaced towards the front with respect to said actuating part but in rearward abutment by thrust of a rear support surface against the bottom of said housing. The actuating slider comprises, forwardly, a front stop surface projecting forwardly at the periphery of the actuating part and occurring on the withdrawal path of the corresponding movable actuating unit and, at its side oriented towards the inside of the weapon, a protuberance projecting in the direction of the breech block through the inner lateral opening of the housing of the slider concerned. This protuberance comprises a rear engagement notch adapted to come into contact with a rear shoulder fast to the breech block and situated (assuming the slider in the extreme forward position) behind said engagement notch at a distance from the latter at least equal to the withdrawal stroke which the actuating part of the breech mechanism must traverse to free the bolt from the breech block.

    • The cartridge extraction post comprises a central star wheel rotor keyed on a longitudinal shaft whose axis is situated in the vertical plane of symmetry of the assembly of the feed at a level such that the star wheels project into the central upper zone of a transverse passage, formed of two opposite passages. The linkfreed cartridges are removed by a pusher operating longitudinally passing through an opening formed in a central zone of the floor of the transverse passage. A fixed support cam in the central zone of the extraction station at the level passed by the back of the links is positioned over at least the fraction of the transverse passage in which the extraction of the cartridges occurs when the cartridge belt passes in the direction F2 reverse to the conventional direction F1 for which the hooks of the links are directed forwardly. The feed lends itself to routeing of the cartridge belt, either in the conventional direction F1 (hooks of the links directed forwardly) for which there is no risk of breakage of the belt by unhooking in the extraction phase, or in the reverse direction F2 (eyes of the links directed forwardly) the cam then resisting lifting and unhooking of the link in the extraction phase under the effect of the upward reaction then exerted on this link which continues to travel in the direction F2 under the action of the rotor thereby correctly driving the following link and the remainder of the belt.
