    • The present invention relates to a bearing for an open-end spinning rotor. The latter is driven at its rotor shaft by means of a tangential belt in a predetermined direction and is supported in a nip which is formed by at least two bearing disks capable of being driven by the rotor shaft. A bearing disk (at least one) leads in relation to the drive direction of the tangential belt rotating into the nip, and another bearing disk (at least one) trails in relation to the drive direction of the tangential belt rotating out of the nip. The axis of the bearing disk (at least one) rotating into the nip is at a specified distance from the plane which goes through the rotor shafts of the spinning rotors of several adjoining open-end spinning devices. This distance is being smaller than the distance between the axis of the bearing disk (at least one) rotating out of the nip and the rotor shaft plane. A plane going through the axes of the bearing disks forms an acute angle between 5° and 15° with the plane going through the axes of the spinning rotors.

    • In order to wind a newly joined thread onto a tube newly inserted on a spooling device on an open-end spinning mechanism, the newly joined thread, together with a thread portion containing a leader, is guided away before the start of the bobbin build-up. Thereupon, the thread portion containing the leader is severed from the thread, and subsequently, the thread supplied by the open-end spinning mechanism is transferred to the newly inserted tube. To exchange a full bobbin for a new tube, a thread break is produced, the open-end spinning mechanism is cleaned and the thread is thereupon joined anew. To carry out this process, there are, on an open-end spinning mechanism, provided with a thread-joining device and a spooling device, a thread-suction device (4), a thread feeder (42) transferring the thread (35) supplied to the thread-suction device (4) to a newly inserted tube, and a thread-severing device (41) assigned to the thread-suction device (4).

    • In an open-end rotor spinning apparatus, the driven rotor shaft (2) of the spinning rotor (1) is mounted by means of bearing members (20) for rotation in a casing (3) which is inserted into a mounting on the machine. The replacement of the spinning rotor (1) together with the bearing casing (3), without exerting a load on the bearings, is made possible by a flange (60) which is disposed on the bearing casing (3) and which extends along the rear side of the spinning rotor (1) and projects at least over the major diameter of the spinning rotor. During replacement of the rotor, the flange (60) serves as a handle, and in normal operation it serves as an additional cooling means for the bearings. By means of a ring (61) mounted on the flange (60), it is possible to form a casing (6) which is open at the front and which, with slight clearance, surrounds the outside contour of the spinning rotor (1) and reduces the consumption of energy.

    • An apparatus for aiding in piecing-up wrapped yarn on a yarn wrapping device which includes a hollow spindle upon which a bobbin of wrapping thread is carried. A pair of delivery rolls feeds a fiber bundle F through a fiber feed channel 8 provided in a pot carried on top of a housing which encloses the hollow spindle and bobbin. Holes 73 are provided in the downwardly extending projections of the pot so that in normal operation air flows through the housing and out of the holes 73. However, upon piecing-up of the yarn, the pot is depressed closing the holes 73 and 61 allowing the air flow to flow at its maximum through the feed channel out of a suction duct 9. This increased suction through suction duct 9 causes the fiber bundle F, the wrapping yarn B, and wrapped yarn G to be sucked thereinto for being pieced-up.
