    • A piston-type fluid displacement apparatus includes a housing enclosing a crank chamber, a suction chamber, a suction chamber, and a discharge chamber. The housing includes a cylinder block wherein a plurality of cylinder bores formed, a drive shaft rotatably supported in the cylinder block and a plurality of pistons each of which is slidably disposed within one of the cylinder bores. Each of the pistons includes a cylindrical body and an arm portion axially extending from a first axial end of the cylindrical body and a pair of engaging portions formed the first axial end of the cylindrical body and the arm portion. The cylindrical body of the pistons includes an hollow portion therein. The housing further includes a plate having an angle of tilt and titably connected to the drive shaft and bearing coupling devices coupling the plate to each of the pistons, so that the pistons reciprocates within the cylinder bores upon rotation of the plate. A plurality of apertures are formed on the first axial end of the cylindrical body of the piston and fluidly communicated with the hollow portion of the piston. At least two of the apertures have respectively a rectangular shape.

    • A chuck for clamping a discoid portion of a work piece includes a base, at least two fixed clamps secured on a front end surface of the base, a movable clamp adjacent to the front end surface of the base and a pin secured to the front end surface of the base. The pin is adapted to fit in a hole formed in the discoid when the discoid is mounted on the chuck wherein the hole has a larger diameter than the pin. Furthermore, the pin is positioned radially inwardly of the movable clamp toward the chuck center and oriented so that the two fixed clamps are equiangularly spaced about and equidistantly spaced from the pin. As a result, the discoid may move relative to the pin and toward the two fixed clamps, without rotation thereof. Accordingly, the centroidal axis of the discoid may be aligned with the rotational axis of the chuck so that precision machining may be achieved.

    • A method for manufacturing a shoe of a swash plate-type refrigerant compressor for vehicle is disclosed. The method comprises a first step, in which a spherical protrusion is made on a first side surface of a plate material by a press operation. The method comprises a second step, in which the spherical protrusion is punched from the plate material to form a shoe intermediate shape. The method further comprises a third step, in which the shoe intermediate shape is forged to form a final shoe shape. The two press operation steps for forming the shoe intermediate shape and punching it from the plate material may be performed by continuously feeding the plate material into a press machine. Thus, shoes having improved dimensional accuracy may be obtained because the necessary amount to be deformed during the forging step is reduced.

    • A method and tool for manufacturing a scroll for use in a scroll type fluid displacement apparatus is disclosed. The method, which uses the tool of the present invention, comprises the steps of: (a) providing a tool formed by a mold including a first molding member having a first involute element and an end plate having a plurality of arc shaped holes; a second involute element rotatably coupled to the first molding member through a plurality of pins axially projecting from an axial end surface thereof, the first and second involute elements forming a radial gap; a rotatable member disposed along the end surface of the end plate of the first involute element and coupled to the pins of the second involute element to transmit the rotation thereof to the second involute element; and a second molding member to cover the open end of the radial gap, the second molding member having an indentation facing and in communication with the open end of the radial gap; (b) filling the radial gap between the first and second involute elements and the indentation with molten metal to form the molten metal into the shape of the spiral element and end plate of the scroll, (c) rotating the rotatable member to enlarge the radial gap after the molten metal solidifies; and (d) removing the scroll formed in the radial gap and the identation from the first molding member.
