摘要： In one example, a scanning unit for examining contents of a cargo container is disclosed comprising a first path through the scanning unit for transport of a cargo container and one or more sources of respective beams of radiation. At least one of the one or more sources are movable across a second path transverse to the first path. The second path extends partially around the first path. The scanning unit further comprises a detector extending partially around the first path. The detector is positioned to detect radiation interacting with the cargo container during scanning, such as radiation transmitted through the container. The at least one source and the detector are positioned so that the cargo container is transportable along the first path, between the source and the detector. A transport system may be provided to convey the object through the scanning unit, along the first path.

摘要： An apparatus and method for irradiating target objects, especially medical stents for in vivo implantation. A linear accelerator provides a high energy electron beam that impinges upon and is received by an x-ray conversion target. The x-ray conversion target is activated by either a static or dynamically moveable electron beam to generate and emit an x-ray flux so as to efficiently intercept the target object. The x-ray flux is directed to the target object for a desired time period and is of sufficiently high energy to efficiently impart radioactive properties to the target object. Alternatively, the target object is positioned within the path of the x-ray flux or is translated within the path during irradiation. Mechanical transport assemblies such as a carousel, rotational and/or linear translator and/or movement tube system also may be provided.

摘要： A preamplifier stage with dynamically controllable signal gain in a data signal processing circuit that includes a downstream analog-to-digital signal converter. The level of the data signal subsequent to its preamplification is monitored and the gain of the preamplifier stage is dynamically adjusted in response to such data signal transcending one or more predetermined thresholds. Hence, the effective dynamic range of the preamplifier stage is extended, thereby also effectively extending the dynamic range of the overall system beyond that to which it would have otherwise been limited by the dynamic range of the analog-to-digital signal converter. In accordance with a preferred embodiment of the invention, such a preamplifier is used in an X-ray imaging system such as that using flat panel solid state imaging devices.

摘要： A method of delivering external radiation beams to a target volume in a body portion includes positioning a radioactive isotope source at a plurality of locations spaced apart around the body portion, and collimating radiation beams of the radioactive isotope source from the plurality of locations, whereby the target volume in the body portion is deposited with a predetermined dose distribution. A radiation device employs a member having a configuration adapted to surround a body portion to be irradiated. The member has a channel and a plurality of collimators spaced apart along and coupled to the channel. The plurality of collimators define a plurality of dwelling locations for a radioactive isotope source in the channel and are configured to collimate radiation beams of the radioactive isotope source.
