摘要： Methods of increasing an energy density of an energy storage device involve increasing the capacitance of the energy storage device by depositing a material into a porous structure of the energy storage device using an atomic layer deposition process, by performing a procedure designed to increase a distance to which an electrolyte penetrates within channels of the porous structure, or by placing a dielectric material into the porous structure. Another method involves annealing the energy storage device in order to cause an electrically conductive substance to diffuse to a surface of the structure and form an electrically conductive layer thereon. Another method of increasing energy density involves increasing the breakdown voltage and another method involves forming a pseudocapacitor. A method of increasing an achievable power output of an energy storage device involves depositing an electrically conductive material into the porous structure.

摘要： A ferrite toroid has two radially extending gaps. Into each gap there is inserted an insulative shim having a magnetic metal ribbon folded over the shim. When current is applied to a winding on the core, the resultant magnetic flux is steered into the magnetic ribbons and around the gaps. For high frequency excitations eddy current losses in the ribbons are high and the windings have low Q but high inductance. At high winding currents, the magnetic ribbons are saturated, the inductance is reduced and the Q of the winding increases. In a switching voltage regulator, this inductor tends to generate only a small amount of ringing and electromagnetic radiation noise.

In a batch process a capacitor is immersed in a bath containing a slurry of thermoplastic polymer containing randomly oriented carbon nanotubes and energized to create an electrical field to orient the carbon nanotubes prior to curing. In a continuous process, slurry carried by a conveyor receives the nanotube aligning electric field from capacitors positioned on both sides of the conveyor bearing the slurry.

摘要： An improved rack-mounted server comprises, in one embodiment, a slidable electronics tray having a top cover secured to the rack, to facilitate access to the tray when it is withdrawn from the rack. The tray also includes a camming mechanism to facilitate insertion of the tray into and its extraction from cable connectors or plugs affixed to the rack. The tray includes, in one embodiment, a movement detection mechanism to power it up or down when tray insertion or removal, respectively, is initiated. In addition, the rack includes an improved cable management system that can accommodate different cables and cable plugs. As a tray is inserted into or removed from the rack, corresponding connectors on the tray are electrically coupled to or uncoupled from cable plugs affixed to the rack, eliminating any need to remove cables from the tray or reinstall them.
