摘要： Pulverized coal is ignited, to furnish energy for warm-up or low load operation of a coal burning furnace, by a technique which does not require the combustion of significant quantities of liquid or gaseous fuels. The direct ignition of pulverized coal in accordance with the present invention contemplates the delivery of a dense phase coal/air stream to an ignition zone where it receives ignition energy and the thus ignited mixture is thereafter contained in a recirculation region until the flame becomes self-sustaining.

The ignition technique of the present invention creates expanding and contracting plasma pockets at a rate which is high compared to the velocity of the fuel stream and permits the ignition of the fuel stream in a cold furnace and/or without supplemental combustion of liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon fuels.

摘要： A plastic leaded chip carrier connector of a base having a plurality of apertures for receiving and orienting a plurality of wire pins therein, and a plurality of wire pins each of a predetermined configuration lockingly engaged within a corresponding aperture of the base for transmitting electrical information therethrough. A method for making such connectors by aligning the base with a wire feed device, advancing one end of a wire from the wire feed device on one side of the base through an aperture in the base to the opposite side of the base, forming a predetermined configuration of the wire end, retracting the formed wire into the aperture to lockingly engage said formed wire end therein, cutting the wire to form a pin locked in the aperture, and repeating the previous steps to form a pin in each aperture of the base. Also, an apparatus for carrying out this method to manufacture the desired connectors.

摘要： A system includes a container and an adapter. The container may include a wall defining a receptacle and a neck, the neck forming an opening and a passage in fluid communication between the receptacle and the opening; a closure assembly having a portion disposed within the neck, and including an insert defining a valve seat, an actuator, a valve member attached to the actuator and sealingly engageable with the valve seat, and a biasing member disposed between the insert and the actuator. The biasing member urges the valve member into sealing engagement with the valve seat in an actuator advanced state, and the valve member disengages from the valve seat in an actuator retracted state, the actuator depending through the opening in the advanced state. The adapter may be removably attached to the container, and configured to move the actuator from advanced to retracted state upon attachment.

The spike assembly provides needleless access to a stopper of a vial to facilitate injection and withdrawal of fluids via a syringe barrel selectively secured to the luer connection portion. The syringe can safely be removed from the spike assembly and then be directly attached to a luer compatible connector. The elongate spike may include a frangible tip portion that can break away from the spike assembly within a vial. The spike assembly may have a neck with a pair of gripping wing members. The spike assembly may have a feature that prevents rotation of the spike in the vial stopper, thereby allowing the syringe to be easily and safely disconnected from the spike assembly without having to grasp the spike assembly.
