    • A rail clip, for holding down a railway rail, is made by bending a metal rod so that it comprises a substantially straight leg, at one end of which is one end of the rod, the other end of the leg being joined to a part on one side of the leg which is joined to a final part on the other side of the leg, this final part terminating in the other end of the rod, near which, on the under-side, a step in the rod is formed, this having a depth no more than 2 mm. or no more than 1/4 of the thickness of the rod before it was bent. Apparatus for performing a second bending operation on a rod, which in a first bending operation has been given the shape indicated above but without the step, has support surfaces for supporting various parts of the bent rod and two shaping tools between which the final part of the rod is distorted to give it its final shape, including the step.

    • A sprinkler apparatus comprises a water wheel that is configured to be alternatively driven in a first wheel direction by a first fluid flow and a second wheel direction by a second fluid flow. The water wheel drives a water tube having at least one fluid outlet. The water tube is moveable in a first tube direction in response to the water wheel being driven in the first wheel direction, and is further moveable in a second tube direction in response to the water wheel being driven in the second wheel direction. The sprinkler apparatus further comprises a switch wheel positioned to receive an initial fluid flow and generate the first and second fluid flows therefrom. In particular, when the switch wheel is in a first position, the first fluid flow is generated. When the switch wheel is in a second position, the second fluid flow is generated.

    • A sprinkler apparatus comprises a spray tube configured to move between a first side position and a second side position. The sprinkler apparatus also comprises a first side adjustment mechanism and a second side adjustment mechanism. Each adjustment mechanism comprises markings indicating lesser to greater degrees of sprinkling coverage area. The sprinkler apparatus further comprises a coverage indicator component attached to the spray tube. The coverage indicator component includes at least one window defined therein. The first side adjustment mechanism and the second side adjustment mechanism are independently moveable in relation to the coverage indicator such that the markings on the first side adjustment mechanism and the second side adjustment mechanism are selectively viewable to the user through the window. The positioning of one of the markings within the window results in a related degree of sprinkling coverage area by the sprinkler apparatus.

    • A infection chamber for control and extermination of insects, including roaches, flying insects such as the housefly, and other insects such as the adult form of the corn rootworm by infection of the insects with a fungus that can be pathogenic when administered to the insects in a sufficiently high concentration. The chamber maintains the spores of a fungus pathogenic to the insects in a viable form, protecting the fungi from the environment (including rain, ultraviolet light and the wind), serves as an attractant for the insects, and serves to inoculate the insects with high numbers of spores. Although the primary means of infection is by external contact, the insects may also be infected by contact with each other and by ingestion of the spores. The two most preferred entomopathogenic fungi are Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana, although other fungi can be used which are pathogenic when the insect is inoculated via the infection chamber. Examples demonstrate control of Blattella germanica (the German cockroach), Periplaneta americana (the American cockroach, Fannia canicularis (little housefly), Musca domestica (housefly), and Diabrotica undecempunctata using chambers containing Metarhizium anisopliae and Beauveria bassiana.

    • A mist collector for separating liquid components from a mist-laden gas stream to include a housing which houses three filter or separation stages. The stream is pumped through ducts into the bottom of the housing, and is pulled upwardly through the filter stages. The third filter stage comprises a commercially available filter assembly with a plurality of filter envelopes having bottom open ends secured across a midposition of the housing and upper closed ends supported adjacent the top of the housing. A doorway provides access to the inside of the housing. The upper closed ends of the envelopes are supported by hanger rods which connect to horizontally movable slides which slide within horizontal channels mounted to the internal side walls of the housing. The slides extend partially out through the doorway to enable the assembly to be connected to and disconnected from the collector outside of the housing.
